2021 Future Games: Team Michigan - Workout Day/Gameday Notes

The tenth annual Future Games took place on July 28-31 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2023 and 2024 participated in one of the most popular events each year.
There were 32 teams, including Team Michigan, with players representing 38 states plus Canadian prospects.
More than 330 scouts from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event.

The Arms
Andrew Abler RHP / 1B / Novi, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 26 / POS: 8
Report: Quiet set up at the plate has a small leg lift with an easy swing on a level path. Long easy finish. 89 mph exit velocity. On the mound a slower wind up working to letter high balance point hiding the ball well throwing from a high 3/4 arm angle. Easy arm action powering the ball down with a loose arm. Worked the zone well using a two pitch mix. Works both sides of the plate well. |
Grant Bradley RHP / SS / Napoleon, MI / 2024Report: Works at an upbeat tempo delivering from a high 3/4 arm angle. Fast arm on the mound throwing with little effort. Sweeping action on the breaking ball delivered from the same arm slot as the fastball. Started the second inning in a groove attacking hitters with both his fastball and curve ball. Arm side run moving in to the right hand hitters. Struck out the side in his second half of work. |
Jackson Haywood RHP / 1B / Lakeview, MI / 2023Report: Overhand wind up working to a 3/4 arm angle. Worked with a fast arm with whippy arm action. Fastball sat 84-86 while he cruised in a scoreless 1/2/3 inning. Late run on the fastball running into the hands on a right hand hitter. Allowed no hits over two innings of work. Mixed in a 11/5 70-71 CB and deceptive 75-76 changeup. |
Jamie Henderson RHP / 3B / Orchard Lake St. Mary's, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 81 / POS: 23
Report: Calm under control RHP has a slight pause as he moves towards his balance point throwing with easy arm action. Curveball produced swing and misses at the plate breaking down and away from right hand hitter. After a slow start went two scoreless innings. 85-87 mph FB, 70-73 mph curve. |
Layne Holmes RHP / OF / Mattawan, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 30 / POS: 9
Report: On the mound a RHP shows a calm set up throwing with some effort. Fills the zone with strikes attacking hitters. Mixed in a sweeping curve he used to set up left hand hitters as a back door pitch. |
Gavin Moczydlowsky RHP / 3B / New Boston Huron, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 6
Report: Strong lower half RHP works right at hitters throwing a power fastball from a high 3/4 arm angle. Back door curve ball to a righty picked up his first K. Attacks hitters with his fastball. Picture perfect first inning, starting the second inning with a backwards strikeout and striking out the next 2 hitters running his fastball up to 90 mph. |
Wyatt Novara LHP / OF / Dexter, MI / 2023Report: Working primarily from the stretch showed a fast arm on the mound throwing from a high 3/4 arm action. Natural lefty movement on the mound working the lower half of strike zone . Produced ground balls ending his first inning of work with a double play. Lots of ground balls during his time of work. Through two innings allowed one hit with one K. Fastball 86-88, cutter 83-84. |
Jay Tuttle C / RHP / Owosso, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 35 / POS: 5
Report: Worked primarily out of the stretch has a waist high leg lift throwing with a short arm action. Powers the ball down in the zone inducing ground ball outs. Fast arm while commanding the zone. Blew fastballs by hitters with ease while keeping hitters off balance with the breaking ball. 86-89 mph fastball and 69-72 mph curve. 76-77 mph change up while throwing two flawless innings. |
The Catchers
Trae Cassidy C / SS / Detroit Catholic Central, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 27 / POS: 3
Report: Left-handed hitting catcher showed rhythm at the plate producing solid contact consistency. Line drive hitter that hit to both sides of the field. Smooth glove to hand transfer behind the dish 1.94-1.99 pop time. |
Oliver Service C / OF / University Ligget, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 32 / POS: 4
Report: A quick twitch prospect showed athleticism working rapidly through the ball in the OF throwing 87 mph. Behind the dish, Service is a vocal leader with sub-2.0 pop times. Showed an aggressive approach at the plate making hard contact drilling line drives, with an exit velo of 96 mph. |
The Infielders
Jack Bakus 1B / 3B / H. H. Dow, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 21 / POS: 1
Report: Physically Imposing LHH covers the page well with his barrel. Showed the ability to drive the ball to the back side while also turning on balls to the pull side. 97 mph exit velocity. |
Nathan Ball 1B / RHP / Bay City John Glenn, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 40 / POS: 2
Report: At the plate a LHH showed clean barrel control. Taking balls to the back side displaying easy thump at the plate. Line drive hitter with a gap to gap approach. 92 mph exit velocity. |
Alex Cheeseman SS / 2B / Brother Rice, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 42 / POS: 9
Report: Compact built middle infielder worked the back side liners. Creates lift on his swings with quick hands through the zone. At the plate posted a 92 mph exit velocity. Moved well in the infield showing a smooth glove to hand transfer throwing 82 mph across the infield. |
Sebastian Jaimes C / 3B / Western international, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 2
Report: Easy set up at the plate shows fast hands through the zone driving the ball to all fields. Ball jumps off his bat with no effort. 96 mph exit velocity. Showed quick feet behind the plate with a 1.97-2.00 pop time. |
Ryan McKay 2B / SS / St. Marys Preparatory School, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 1
Report: Compact frame middle infielder shows a a plus feel at the plate. Barrels balls consistently while creating lift in his swing. Sprays balls to all fields. 93 mph exit velocity. In the infield showed pimple hips moving clean to both the glove side and back hand. Soft hands and clean footwork. |
Aamir Mitchell 3B / SS / DeLaSalle Collegiate, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 49 / POS: 2
Report: Long lever prospect sets up with a tall frame using his frame to create clean hard contact. Easy power at the plate driving the ball to the middle and pull side. Posted a tie for team high in exit velocity with 97 mph. Showed soft hands receiving the ball in the middle infield with the ability to play all over the infield. |
Jonah St. Antoine SS / RHP / Forest Hills Northern, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 41 / POS: 8
Report: Advanced feel at the plate projects as a top of the order hitter. Sprays line drives where the ball is pitched. Showed pop at the plate taking multiple balls over the gate. Showed the strongest throwing arm of the Team Michigan middle infielders posting an 86 mph velo. |
The Outfielders
Adrian Epps OF / 2B / West Bloomfield, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 51 / POS: 9
Report: Strong lower half prospect shows an open stance producing line drives to the middle of the field. Showed clean actions in the OF with a quick first step throwing 85 mph. |
Dylan Larkins OF / 1B / U of D Jesuit, MI / 2024Rankings StateRank: 28 / POS: 4
Report: Long athletic framed prospect has an easy approach at the plate producing lift on his swings. Drove several balls deep into right center. Fun hitter to watch at the plate. 93 mph exit velo. Long legs in the OF covering ground with an easy throwing action posting an 84 mph OF velo. |
Carson Smith OF / RHP / Grandville, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 5
Report: Athletic framed prospect shows a polished approach at the plate driving the ball to all fields. Line drive hitter with a two hand swing. Showed good range in the field having the ability to play all three outfield positions. |
The Two-Way Prospects
Brennan Hill LHP / OF / Grosse Pointe North, MI / 2024Report: The 2024 prospect shows promise as a legit two-way guy. Fast hands at the plate, drove liners to RF and the up the middle. 91 mph exit velocity. On the bump, showcased a quick arm out of a low slot. Good feel for a 3-pitch mix. Fastball sat 82-85 mph. Has feel for mid-60s curveball and mid-70s change. |
Drew Hill OF / LHP / Grosse Pointe North, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 8
Report: Strong lower half hitter has an aggressive approach at the plate unloading on balls creating lift. 92 mph exit velocity at the plate. Corner outfielder moved under control towards balls in the field showing an accurate throwing arm. On the mound begins at a slant while working at a calm pace. Letter high balance point while throwing with effort from a high 3/4 arm angle. Worked easily to close out the victory showing command on the lower half of the zone. Mixed in slurvy breaking ball keeping hitters off balance. Picked up two strikeouts on the mound. |
Noah Miller C / RHP / Monroe, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 1
Report: Wide set up uses a front left lift to gain rhythm while attacking the ball aggressively. Strong lower half hitter showcased raw power. Opposite field hitter posting a 96 mph exit velocity. Strong armed prospect threw 92 across the infield while going behind the dish with 1.88-1.92 pop time. In a closing effort worked at a controlled pace throwing over the top in the strike zone. Worked the lower half of the strike zone. Sharp breaking curve on an 11/5 plane. Fastball sat 88-90 mph with a 74-75 mph CB. |
Alfredo Velazquez OF / LHP / Brother Rice, MI / 2023Report: Two-way prospect at the plate with fast hands. Quiet approach with a quick trigger taking a ball over the RF fence posting a 94 mph exit velocity. Quick actions in the OF covering ground with a rapid release throwing 91 mph. On the mound has a clean motion working at an uptempo pace. Loose arm action while commanding both sides of the plate. Struck out the first batter on three pitches. Back door curve with sharp bite keeping hitters off balance. Struck out three hitters in the first. Produced lots of roll overs and soft contact. Fastball 86-89 with command, curve 70-74 mph. |
