Missouri Underclass Games: Infield Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Missouri held the Missouri Underclass Games on June 11 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Over 65 players from the region attended in the 2022 and 2021 class. 

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a

Here is a closer look at the infielders from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Infielders

Blake Anderson SS / 2B / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2021

Anderson is an athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.30 second 60 and a 4.72 home-to-first. At the plate, 83 mph exit velocity, athletic set up, quiet load, smooth actions, looks to work inside the baseball, aggressive with back hip, mostly level bat path, showed mostly line drive contact to the gaps during batting practice. Defensively, athletic actions on the infield, pre-pitch rhythm, fluid footwork, smooth to the baseball, soft hands, three-quarter release, positional velo of 78 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Camden Careswell 1B / LHP / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2021

Careswell is a strong and physical 6-foot-2, 210-pound, left-handed hitting first basemen in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.31 second 60 and a 4.83 home-to-first. At the plate, 83 mph exit velocity, starts in an athletic stance, long and in line stride, flat bat path, remains balanced throughout swing, produced hard contact during batting practice mainly to right field, showed above average pop as well. Defensively, moves well for his size, aggressive to the baseball, clean transfers, long arm action, strong arm with carry to his throws, positional velo of 81 mph, very accurate throws.

Wyatt Clark RHP / 1B / Blue Springs South , MO / 2021

Clark is a long and lean 6-foot-5, 220-pound, left-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.44 second 60 and 4.91 home-to-first. At the plate, exit velocity of 89 mph, starts in an upright stance, slightly closed off stride, leverages front side, minimal head movement, high finish with hands, showed plus pop during batting practice to center and right field. 

Harrison Day SS / RHP / Liberty, MO / 2021

Day is an athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher out of Liberty HS. At the event, Day ran a 7.20 second 60 and a 4.71 home-to-first. At the plate, exit velocity of 88 mph, starts open, smooth load, in line stride, quick hands, level bat path, aggressive with back hip, showed hard line drive and fly ball contact to left and center field during batting practice. Defensively, quick to the baseball, fluid footwork, clean transfers, momentum towards target, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 86 mph, mostly accurate throws. 

Parker Erickson 1B / OF / Bolivar , MO / 2021

Erickson is a strong and big bodied 6-foot-1, 195-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.43 second 60 and a 4.81 home-to-first. At the plate, 91 mph exit velocity, starts in an upright stance, leg lift, short stride that’s slightly open, remains balanced throughout swing, quick hands, very hard contact during batting practice with plus pop, hit a home run over left field fence. Defensively at first base, Erickson moves for his size, showed ability to field his position, clean transfers, longer arm action, positional velo of 75 mph, very accurate, throws have some carry.

Adam Gray RHP / 3B / Lees Summit North, MO / 2021

Gray is a lean 6-foot-5, 200-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher out of Lee’s Summit North HS. At the event he ran a 7.93 second 60 and a 5.16 home-to-first. At the plate, 80 mph exit velocity, starts in an open stance, smaller leg lift, quiet hands, narrow and in line stride, looks to lift the baseball, remains balanced throughout, showed flyball contact with plus pop during round. Defensively, attacks the baseball, clean exchanges, short arm action, quick arm, three-quarter release, positional velo of 78 mph, some accurate throws. 

Matthew Haley RHP / SS / Rockwood Summit , MO / 2021

Haley has a solid build at 5-foot-11, 174 pounds. He is a right-handed hitting middle infield prospect and right-handed pitcher out of Rockwood Summit HS. At the event he ran a 7.35 second 60 and a 4.52 home-to-first. During batting practice, Haley posted an exit velocity of 87 mph, athletic stance, pre-pitch rhythm with hands, reverse toe tap, in line stride, aggressive with back hip, flat bat path, hard line drive contact and pull pop during round. Defensively, athletic actions on the infield, clean exchanges, accurate with throws, fluid footwork, clean arm action, positional velo of 80 mph.

Dylan Hufft SS / 2B / Park Hill South, MO / 2021

Hufft is a lean and athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder out of Missouri’s Park Hill South HS. At the event he ran a 7.03 second 60 and 4.43 home-to-first. At the plate, exit velocity of 88 mph, starts open and athletic with lower half, rhythm with hands, in line stride, explosive back hip, quick hands, controls the barrel, during round ball jumps off barrel and showed pop to left field. Defensively, Hufft has athletic actions on the infield, strong arm with carry to throws, positional velo of 90 mph which as the highest recorded at the event, accurate throws, clean exchanges, Hufft’s athleticism and skill set make him a prospect to keep an eye on as he develops.

Chase Jans OF / SS / Blue Valley, KS / 2021

Jans is an athletic 6-foot, 187-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event, he ran a 6.50 second 60 and posted and exit velocity of 87 mph. At the plate, athletic stance, smooth load, quick hands, flat bat path, remains balanced throughout swing, showed hard contact during round. On the infield, Jans has athletic actions, quick movements side-to-side, glove tap into transfer, quick arm, three-quarter release, positional velo of 80 mph, accurate throws.

Carter Jensen C / 1B / Park Hill , MO / 2021

Jensen is a strong and physical 6-foot-1, 215-pound, left-handed hitting catcher and corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class, Louisiana State commit. At the event, he ran a home-to-first time of 5.01 seconds and posted an exit velocity of 94 mph. At the plate, shows quick bat speed, efficient weight shift into load position, aggressive with lower half, level bat path, remains balanced during swing, produced hard pull contact during round with pop. On the infield, athletic actions, clean transfer with active footwork, high three quarters release, accurate throws, 85 mph positional velocity. 

 

Kevin Korte OF / SS / DeSmet, MO / 2021

Korte is a well built 6-foot-1, 180-pound, right-handed hitting infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.76 second 60 and a 5.05 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 83 mph, upright stance and low position with hands, shorter stride, slightly open, simple load, looks to lift the ball, showed above average pop during batting practice, gap-to-gap approach. On the infield, fluid footwork, momentum towards target, glove tap into transfer, three-quarter release, clean arm action, very accurate throws across the diamond, positional velocity of 80 mph.

Elliot Krewson SS / 2B / Parkway West, MO / 2021

Krewson is a 5-foot-9, 140-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.28 second 60 and a 4.88 home-to-first. At the plate, Krewson posted a 81 mph exit velocity, starts with an open stance, leg lift, slightly close stride, remains balanced throughout swing, produced contact to primarily left field during batting practice. Defensively on the infield, quick feet, range to his glove side, clean exchanges, quick arm, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 81 mph, accurate throws

Keaton Latlip SS / 2B / Blue Springs South, MO / 2021

Latlip is a slender 5-foot-9, 145-pound, right-handed hitting middle infield prospect in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.41 second 60 and a 4.76 home-to-first. At the plate, Latlip posted an exit velocity of 77 mph, starts in an upright stance, quiet load, sinks into legs, in line stride, level bat path, remains balanced throughout swing. Defensively on the infield, shows some athleticism, range to his glove side, clean exchanges, short arm action, high three-quarter slot, positional velo of 76 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Kai Leese 3B / RHP / Fort Zumwalt South, MO / 2021

Leese has a lean frame and athletic build at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. He is a right-handed hitting corner infield prospect out of Fort Zumwalt South HS. At the event he ran a 7.69 second 60 and 5.32 home-to-first. At the plate, Leese posted an exit velocity of 87 mph, starts open, leg lift, pre-pitch rhythm with hands, slightly closed off stride, leverages front side, gets arms extended, showed some feel for the barrel. Defensively, attacks the baseball, fluid footwork, very accurate with throws, positional velocity of 70 mph.

Mason Luna SS / OF / Dora, MO / 2021

Luna is an athletic 5-foot-11, 155-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. Luna ran a 6.95 second 60 and a 4.60 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 78 mph, starts with a wider base, minimal load, slightly open stride, looks to lift at the plate, remains balanced throughout swing, showed contact primarily to center and left field during batting practice. Defensively, athletic actions, glove tap into transfer, momentum towards target, three-quarter release, throws have carry, top velocity was 80 mph across the infield, accurate throws. 

Nikolas Madrid SS / 2B / Staley, MO / 2021

Madrid is an athletic 5-foot-6, 160-pound, right-handed hitting middle infield prospect out of Staley HS is Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.00 60 and a 4.51 home-to-first. At the plate, Madrid posted an exit velocity of 80 mph, short compact and repeatable swing, shows body control and balance throughout, flat bat path, quick hands, controls the barrel, during batting practice ball jumps off barrel, showed pop to left field. Defensively, quick feet, athletic actions, clean exchanges, mostly accurate throws, top infield velocity across the diamond was 74 mph, quick arm, fluid footwork.

Jake McCutcheon SS / 2B / Francis Howell, MO / 2022

McCutcheon is a slender framed 6-foot, 165-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. He ran a 7.19 second 60 and a 4.61 home-to-first. At the plate, McCutcheon posted an exit velocity of 84 mph, starts in an athletic stance, leg lift, in line stride, level bat pat, minimal head movement, showed primarily line drive and fly ball contact to right field during batting practice. Defensively, shows some athleticism, soft hands, glove tap from transfer to throw, plus range to glove side, accurate throws across the diamond, strong arm with a positional velo of 86 mph, prospect to keep an eye as he develops.

Zane Meyers SS / 2B / Palmyra, MO / 2021

Meyers is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class out of Palmrya HS. He ran a 7.10 second 60 and a 4.65 home-to-first. At the plate, Meyer posted an exit velocity of 83 mph, athletic set up, smaller leg lift, quiet hands, in line stride, aggressive with back hip, looks to lift, showed contact primarily to right field while producing line drives and fly balls. Defensively on the infield, athletic actions, fluid footwork, glove tap in exchanges, momentum towards target, mostly accurate throws, top infield velocity is 81 mph across the diamond.

Jack Mosh SS / RHP / St. Pius X, MO / 2022

Mosh is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class. He ran a 7.00 second 60 and 5.45 home-to-first. At the plate, Mosh posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, starts open with stance, reverse toe tap, in line stride, high finish with hands, looks to lift at the plate, primarily fly ball contact to right field during round. Defensively, showed some athleticism, fluid footwork, momentum towards target, quick arm, clean exchanges, mostly accurate throws across the diamond with a positional velo topping at 80 mph. 

Aaron Moss SS / C / Lindbergh , MO / 2021

Moss is a slender framed and wirey right-handed hitting catcher and middle infielder at 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds. He shows good footspeed as he ran a 7.12 second 60 and a 4.16 home-to-first. At the plate, athletic stance, rhythmic actions prior to swing, smaller leg lift, quick hands, showed control of the barrel, leverages front side, showed primarily fly ball contact during round with above average pop. On the infield, Moss has athletic actions, quick lateral movements, soft hands, quick arm, positional velo of 87 mph with carry, accurate throws.

Sam Murray 2B / SS / Lafayette, MO / 2021

Murray is a slender and projectable 6-foot, 145-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder out of Missouri’s Lafayette HS. At the event he ran a 7.38 second 60 and a 4.91 home-to-first. At the plate, Murray posted an exit velocity of 80 mph, up right stance, leg lift, pre-pitch rhythm with hands, short and in line stride, leverages front side, level bat path, remains balanced throughout swing. Defensively, athletic actions on the infield, quick feet, clean arm action, low three-quarter release, momentum towards target, very accurate throws across the diamond topping out at 80 mph.

Nate Pokorney SS / RHP / Timberland, MO / 2022

Pokorney is a 5-foot-8, 140-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the event he ran a 4.63 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. At the plate, athletic stance, smaller leg lift, quiet hands, in line stride, level bat path, remains balanced throughout swing, produced contact to all fields with some pop during batting practice. Defensively, Pokorney has athletic actions on the infield, fluid footwork, range to both glove side and backhand, soft hands, clean arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velo tops at 80 mph across the infield, accurate throws.

Matt Riekhof 3B / SS / Park Hill South, MO / 2021

Riekhof is a 6-foot, 145-pound, right-handed hitting infielder out of Missouri’s Park Hill South HS. At the event he ran a 7.30 second 60 and a 4.87 home-to-first. At the plate, Riekoff posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, starts in an open stance, pre-pitch rhythm with hands, in line stride, leverages front side, showed contact to primarily left field during batting practice. Jack Schark SS / 2B / Home school, MO / 2021

Schark is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound, right-handed hitting middle infield prospect. At the event he ran a 7.13 second 60 and a 4.62 home-to-first. At the plate, Schark posted an exit velocity of 84 mph, athletic stance, pre-pitch rhythm with hands, in line stride, explosive back hip, flat bat path, remains balanced throughout swing, gap-to-gap approach during round with primarily line drive and flyball contact. Luke Smith SS / OF / Parkway South, MO / 2021

Smith is a 6-foot, 180-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder out of Missouri’s Parkway South HS. At the event he ran a 7.39 second 60 and a 4.41 home-to-first. At the plate, Smith posted an exit velocity of 89 mph, upright stance, leg lift, smooth load, in line stride, controls the barrel, aggressive with back hip, produced hard contact throughout batting practice. Defensively, pre-pitch rhythm, range to forehand and backhand, aggressive to the baseball, strong arm with carry to throws, clean exchanges, positional velocity of 86 mph. 

Ethan Straight 1B / LHP / Staley , MO / 2021

Straight is a lean framed 6-foot-2, 170-pound left-handed hitting first basement out of Missouri’s Staley HS. At the event he ran a 7.82 second 60 and a 5.00 home-to-first. At the plate, he posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, upright and balanced stance, reverse toe tap, smooth load with hands, leverages front side, remains balanced throughout swing, produced line drive contact to right field during batting practice. Defensively, good lateral movements, clean exchanges, long arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 76 mph, accurate throws across the infield.

Nick Walker 2B / SS / Kirkwood, MO / 2021

Walker is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.22 second 60 and a 4.71 home-to-first. At the plate, Walker posted an exit velocity of 79 mph, balanced set up, minimal load, some pre-pitch rhythm to hands, in line stride, level bat path, produced contact to center and right field during batting practice. Defensively, attacks the baseball, moves well side-to-side, clean exchanges, on time with footwork, positional velo tops at 77 mph across the infield, very accurate throws.

Walsh is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound, right-handed hitting corner infield prospect in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.32 second 60 and a 4.75 home-to-first. At the plate, Walsh posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, athletic stance, long and in line stride, quiet hands, controls the barrel, looks to lift at the plate, showed fly by all contact to all fields during batting practice. Defensively on the infield, long levers, large frame with room for growth, smooth actions, fluid footwork, range to forehand and backhand sides, quick arm, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 81 mph, balls have carry, accurate throws across the infield.

Mason Whiteside 2B / OF / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2021

Whiteside is an athletic and strong 5-foot-11, 180-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouir’s 2021 class, a Michigan recruit. At the event he ran a 7.40 second 60 and 4.82 home-to-first. At the plate, Whiteside posted an exit velocity of 87 mph, higher leg lift, smooth load with hands, slightly closed off stride, controls the barrel, quick hands, gap-to-gap approach during batting practice. Defensively, fast twitch actions, athleticism on the infield, quick arm, strong arm with carry on throws, positional velocity of 80 mph, accurate throws across the infield.

Mark Zickrick 3B / 1B / Lafayette, MO / 2021

Zickrick is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder out of Missouri’s Lafayette HS. At the event he ran a 7.45 second 60 and a 4.87 home-to-first. During batting practice, Zickrick posted an exit velocity of 86 mph, athletic stance, quiet load, in line stride, level bat path, leverages front side, explosive back hip, produced contact to all fields with some pop during round. Defensively, large frame, long levers with room to grow, smooth actions on the infield, strong arm with some carry to his throws, high three-quarter release, positional velocity tops at 77 mph, very accurate throws.
