Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg on August 12.  Over sixty players attended in the 2020-2019 class. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the 2020 Pitchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

2020 Pitchers

Michael Allen 1B / LHP / Park Hill South , MO / 2020

Allen is a long limbed and lean 6-foot 162-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  On the mound, Allen’s delivery shows some rhythm, deceptive as he hides the ball behind his body, over the top arm slot, accelerates down the mound, fastball is 73-75 mph, will turn it over for some run, curveball is 62-66 mph, 1-to-7 shape, gradual action, thrown for a strike and used to put hitters away, changeup showed some fade, 68-70 mph.

Blake Andersen RHP / 1B / Olathe East, KS / 2020

Anderson is a 6-foot-2, 177-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class out of Olathe East HS. Anderson has lean and athletic build, long levers and projectable frame. Andersons delivery is simple, controlled, works downhill with tilt, good rhythm with hands, directional towards home plate, over the top arm slot and loose clean arm action. During game action, Anderson was aggressive in the zone with his fastball, worked both sides of the plate and located two quality pitches for strikes. Fastball sat 80-82 mph, topped at 84 and turned it over to 79-80 for more movement and sink. Curveball is thrown with fastball arm speed, 11-to-5 shape, late action, high percentage of strikes and between 67-70 mph.

Will Bailey RHP / 3B / Kickapoo, MO / 2020

Bailey is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Bailey has an aggressive delivery, quick tempo, utilizes his glove side for added deception, high three quarter arm slot and accelerates down the mound. Fastball is 78-80 mph while topping out at 81, and curveball is 65-68 mph.

Brayden Ballard RHP / OF / Smith Cotton , MO / 2020

Ballard is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missiouri’s 2020 class from Smith Cotton. Ballard has a lean build and projectible frame with long levers. His delivery shows athleticism and rhythm, good tempo, accelerates down the mound, deceptive, aggressive lower half, three quarter delivery and clean arm action. Fastball has cut action, 76-77 mph, induced ground balls in game action. Curveball is 71-75 mph, sweeping action at times which makes it difficult for right-handed hitters to pick up, 10-to-4 type shape.

Max Bates LHP / 1B / Hickman , MO / 2020

Bates is a 5-foot-9 165-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Bates’ delivery has some rhythm, is deceptive, leverages up his front leg and shows the ability to repeat. Arm action is clean and a three quarter slot. Fastball shows arm side run with occasional sink between 72-74 mph and good command of arm side. Bates showed good feel for his curveball, sweeping action, slurve type spin with 1-to-7 shape, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, 65-67 mph

Nathan Beaton 2B / RHP / Vianney, MO / 2020

Beaton is a 6-foot-3 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Beaton shows long levers, clean arm action, three quarter slot, repeatable delivery, strides slightly across his body, good body control with minimal head movement. Fastball was located to both sides of the plate, 78-80 mph, arm side ride, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, changeup was 71-75 mph, showed arm side run and depth, near fastball arm speed, curveball was 64-68 mph, gradual action, 11-to-5 shape.

Marshall Brown RHP / 1B / Kennett, MO / 2020

Brown is a 6-foot-4 195-pound rightgt-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Brown shows a big frame, repeats delivery, works at a slower tempo, accelerates down the mound, hides the ball behind is frame and glove side arm action, high three quarter arm slot. Fastball is 77-80 mph, occasional arm side run, change up is 67-68 mph, near fastball arm speed, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, 62-65 mph.

Zach Dillman C / RHP / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2020

Dillman is a 6-foot-1 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  On the mound, Dillman has a smooth delivery, works downhill, directional towards target, clean arm action, high three quarter release point, explosive lower half, accelerates down the mound. Fastball is 80-81 mph while topping out at 82 mph, occasional arm side run, thrown to both sides of the plate, curveball is 68-70 mph, sharp bite at times, 11-to-5 shape, changeup is 74-75 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Dylan Epke 3B / RHP / Maize South, KS / 2020

Epke is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. On the mound, Epke’s delivery has some rhythm, works downhill, shows the ability to repeat, uses a glove tap, accelerates down the mound, high three quarter arm slot. Fastball is 77-79 mph, throws a 2 seam with arm side run, works both sides of the plate, curve ball is 67-69 mph, thrown for strikes.

Jesse George OF / LHP / Lee's Summit, MO / 2020

George is a lean and long 6-foot-2 175-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  On the mound, George hides the ball behind his body and adds deception with high glove side action, over the top arm slot, accelerates down the mound, aggressive lower half. Fastball is 72-74, occasional arm side run, curveball as 11-to-5 shape, gradual sweeping action, served as an out pitch in game action, 60-64 mph

Gage Goss RHP / 3B / Springfield Catholic, MO / 2020

Goss is a 6-foot1 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Goss has a compact and repeatable delivery, long loose arm action, shows rhythm with his hands, works downhill, commands three pitches for strikes. Fastball is 80-83 mph, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, armside run, curveball is 64-68 mph, 11-to-5 shape, sweeping action, has a chance to be a plus pitch, used as an out pitch in game action, changeup 72-73 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Camren Huber LHP / 1B / Park Hill South, MO / 2020

Huber is 5-foot-11, 225-pound left-handed pitcher in Missiouri’s 2020 class from Parkville South HS. Huber has a stocky build and a strong lower half. His delivery is simple and relaxed, repeats, deceptive arm action, tough for left-handed hitters to pickup the baseball, three quarter arm slot. Fastball has good arm side movement, occasional sink, sat 72-74 mph, thrown to both sides of the plate, induced a couple ground balls in game action. Curveball is 64-68 mph, near fastball arm speed, mostly gradual action, thrown to both sides of the plate, primarily used as his out pitch in game action

Brock Ivy OF / RHP / Park Hill South, MO / 2020

Ivy is a physical 6-foot-2 205-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Ivy shows a simple and repeatable delivery, good body control, short but in line stride, directional towards target, short arm action, three quarter arm slot. Fastball sat 79-81 mph while topping out at 82, turns it over for some arm side run, thrown to both sides of the plate, induced ground balls in game action, curveball is 69-72 mph, 11-to-5 shape, gradual action.

Tyler Kotsis SS / RHP / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2020

Kotsis is a 5-foot-10 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Kotsis has a simple and repeatable delivery, shorter stride, slightly across his body, accelerates down the mound, over the top arm slot, quick arm. Fastball is 80-83 mph and tops at 84 mph, thrown for strikes, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, gradual action, near fastball arm speed.

Jacob Merithew RHP / SS / Fort Osage, MO / 2020

Merithew is a 6-foot-2 146-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Merithew shows a simple and compact delivery with some rhythm, leverages front side, loose arm action, over the top arm slot, works downhill. Fastball is 81-84 mph while topping at 85, will turn it over for some run and sink, thrown for strikes, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, gradual action, 70-72 mph, split finger is 76-76, good downward action, has a chance to be a plus pitch.

Seth Roggenkamp LHP / OF / DeSmet Jesuit, MO / 2020

Roggenkamp is a sturdy 6-foot-1 185-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Roggenkamp shows a fluid and repeatable delivery, good rhythm, glove tap and peak lift point of front leg, high three quarter arm slot, long arm with clean action, works with tempo. Fastball is 76-77, late life to his arm side, thrown to both sides of the plate, curveball is 64-67 mph, late action at times, 11-to-5 shape.

Jacob Stevens RHP / OF / Kearney , MO / 2020

Stevens is a 6-foot-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class hailing from Kearney, MO. Stevens has a lean build, long levers and projectable frame. He works with a quicker tempo, high leg kick, downhill tilt as he pitches, shorter arm action, hides the ball well, over the top arm slot. During game action, Stevens showed athleticism as he is quick off the mound to field his position and has command of both his fastball and curveball. Fastball is heavy and sat 77-79 mph, will turn it over to 76 mph with slight arm side run, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, worked both sides of the plate. Curveball is 68-71 mph, 12-to-6 type shape, mostly gradual action.

Will Thompson SS / RHP / St Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Thompson is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. On the mound, Thompson has a smooth delivery, repeats, good direction, controls body with minimal head movement, three quarters arm slot, accelerates down the mound, fastball is 76-79 mph with arm side run, locates to both sides of the plate, induced a lot of groundballs in game action, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, sharp bite at times, 66-68 mph.

Will Walsh 1B / LHP / Rockhurst, MO / 2020

Walsh is a 6-foot-3 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Walsh shows a repeatable delivery with rhythm and fluidity, high three quarter arm slot, long loose arm action, hides the ball well behind his body, high leg kick, shows good body control and direction towards the plate. Fastball was thrown to both sides of the plate for strikes, arm side run, 80-82 mph, changeup was thrown for a high percentage of strikes, showed depth, 71-72 mph, curveball showed 1-to-7 shape, sharp bite at times, 65-68 mph.
