Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

As we wind down another great year, we begin to take a look back at 2018.  After drilling down into our google analytics, we have compiled a list of the twenty most viewed PBR profiles in North Carolina.  Beginning on December 17th and ending on December 30th, we will dive into the profiles that garnered the most hits in 2018.

The player profiles in PBR’s vast database received well over 7.5 million hits in 2018.  Players from each region in North Carolina drove coaches, scouts, and fans to their PBR profile to learn more.  Today we take a look at No. 10 in the 2018 countdown of the most viewed profiles from North Carolina

No. 10 – Ryan Clifford

The No. 1 ranked player in PBR’s 2022 Overall Rankings, Clifford will be closely followed for the coming years.  PBR was on hand to see him in action several times this summer, filing our first full report on him at the Border Battle event in September in Holly Springs.  Physical with quickness present, look for Clifford to continue to develop as the body is still maturing.

Scouting Report

09.22.18

Known commodity without having played a high school game yet.  Has received exposure on the summer circuit and in his stint with the 15 Team USA this past summer.  Athletic and lanky, definitely looks the part of a player with a high ceiling.  Stands 6-foot-2, 195 pounds with a lot of maturation still ahead.  Left handed hitter has juice in the box, driving balls to both gaps in BP and peppering the scoreboard in the oppo gap with wood during his second round of BP.  Tall with a leg kick to load his weight.  Flat bat head works to a lagged position at his launch.  Advanced quickness and bat speed translated into the baseball rocketing off the barrel.  Occasionally the top hand took over creating some top spin and rollover type swings.  Shows patience in game, willing to work deeper in counts.  More pull conscience with more rollover type passes in game situations.  Athletic, with the potential to play 1B as well, the arm has advanced carry and accuracy from a clean exchange and release.  4.76 home to first time recorded in game.
