2023 SS Zackary Sperger (Lansing) Wiry frame. Strong hands and wrists. Swing is direct with plus bat speed. Ball jumped off his barrel. Flat swing path produced consistent hard line drives #WesternNYpic.twitter.com/hDmFqUF7VX
Physical: Well proportioned, lean 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with some strength in the actions. 7.44 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Balanced, even stance with the hands showing rhythm at the ear.. Utilized a repeatable leg-hang stride with stretch back to the shoulder in the load for the timing mechanism. Entered the hitting zone through a slightly uphill barrel path with feel for extension. Found plenty of barrels to all fields during a quality batting practice round which saw him work gap to gap primarily. Recorded a 90 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball with high level bat to ball skills.
Defensively: The primary shortstop arrived to the baseball on time with regularity demonstrating a low center of gravity and range to either side. A soft glove hand allowed for smooth and repeatable transfers showcasing the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. Made the play on the run with relative ease while the arm played through a high ¾ slot with a moderate takeaway across the diamond. SS - 77 mph .. Working out in the OF as well, displayed a feel for footwork in any direction getting behind the ball and playing downhill through it towards the destination. Fielded the ball off of the front left foot on the ground and featured quick transfers to the throwing hand. OF - 74 mph.
