DONEGAL 7, lancaster catholic 6

Donegal sophomore right-handed pitcher Dawson Magar walked three and gave up a single in the first inning but his defense picked him up with an inning ending 5-2-3 double play with the bases loaded to limit the damage to one run. Magar settled settled in nicely walking just two batters the rest of the way in going the distance.

Lancaster Catholic freshman left-handed starter Nicholas Breznak gave up single runs in each of the first three innings but hit his stride in the middle innings including striking out the side in the 5th. With a 6-3 lead going to the bottom of the 6th inning Breznak went back to the mound before exiting following a lead-off double by Christopher Beaudoin to start the inning.

Senior right-hander Bayley Jamanis moved to the mound and sandwiched two strikeouts around two walks that loaded the bases. Donegal sophomore Kyle Hess followed by singling sharply up the middle to cut the Crusaders' lead to 6-5 and following a Dale Houser walk junior left fielder Connor Green's single drove in two to give the Indians the lead.

Magar set the Crusaders down in order in the 7th to pick up the win, but not without some drama. Following a ground out for the first out, Lancaster Catholic junior shortstop Mitch Eck drove a ball into the right center field gap for two bases. Donegal right fielder Kyle Hess made a perfect throw to Houser and the shortstop's relay to third was in plenty of time to cut down Eck at third base. Magar got the final out via a strikeout, his 7th of the evening.

Jamanis (2-4), Dillon Marsh (2-3, BB, 2 R) and Eck (3-4, 2 2B, 3B, 2 RBI) led the Lancaster Catholic offensive attack.

Kyle Hess (1-4, R, 2 RBI), Houser (2-3, 2B, 2 R, BB), Green (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI) and Ethan Hess (2-2, BB, R, RBI) carried the Donegal offense.
