2025 All-American Game: Data Dive, Position Players

By Andy Sroka
National Managing Editor, Scouting

Digging into the data from the third annual Prep Baseball All-American Game is an exciting activity and one I was particularly looking forward to doing myself.

The first two iterations of the AAG has done an excellent job in finding the players professional scouts are whittling down into first- and second-round draft candidates, where the major money is spent. In total, following the two drafts that were held following our inaugural 2023 All-American Game, there have been 27 total players drafted who participated in at least one of our first two AAGs. Of those 27, 17 of those prep stars were selected within the first 75 picks of the 2024 or 2025 MLB drafts.

And our 2025 All-American roster felt as loaded as ever, so getting the chance to compare and contrast this year’s data against the data from the 2023 and 2024 games felt like the perfect opportunity to forecast the players on a first- or second-round trajectory – whether that’s in 2026 or all the way in the summer of 2027.

MORE AAG HEADLINES

Below we’ve assembled the statistical leaderboards for the position players from our 2025 event – from athletic testing to swing analysis to batted-ball data. We’re dissecting it today to help underscore the caliber of talent that performed next to their peers, the best high school ballplayers in the nation.

Not one, but two players broke the previous 60-yard dash record (Griffin Burkholder, 6.29s, 2023): OF Eric Booth Jr. (Oak Grove, MS, 2026; Vanderbilt commit) at a 6.25 time, and SS Dylan Seward (Norco, CA, 2027) at 6.26.

Booth Jr., a senior, and Seward, a junior, are in rare air athletically. While, sure, the two are elite runners in the 60-yard dash, their record-breaking times really just tease how explosive and dynamic their tool kit is on the diamond. Booth Jr.’s swing metrics are exceptional, with basically the best combination of bat speed and rotational acceleration of any hitter at the event (which we’ll elaborate on later). Seward’s athleticism was obviously outstanding, among the leaders across many categories, not limited to running or jumping, either.

Booth is one of the top ranked outfielders in the country’s 2026 class, according to us, with a booming left-handed bat that benefits from his stellar athleticism, too. Meanwhile, it’s been said before and it’ll be said again many more times over the next 20 months or so, but Seward is capable of being the first overall pick in the 2027 MLB Draft at this rate – though we’ll illustrate how his athleticism is only just one feature from a war chest of tools.

This was clearly the most athletic group of players the All-American Game has ever hosted – and that was even with several players opting out of running or jumping after a long summer of competition.

The top five 10-yard splits became the five fastest 10-yard splits in AAG history, all recorded at 1.55s or quicker, led by RHP/INF Kaden Wasniewski’s (McHenry, IL, 2027) time of 1.52 seconds. Wasniewski is one of the best two-way players in the Midwest, and his swing-and-miss fastball has helped him attract the most attention so far, but it can’t be understated how interesting he is positionally. In the last few years we’ve seen just three other players race to a 1.52 time out of the gate or better – and each were in the final half of their senior years by the time they recorded a split that low at that winter’s Super 60.

Wasniewski is still quite a ways away from that point developmentally, so it’ll be exciting to monitor his positional progress, in addition to his dynamite arsenal on the mound.

Right behind him, however, were INF/RHP Cole Koeninger’s (Keller, TX, 2026; Tennessee) 1.53 time, OF Grant Westphal’s (Blue Valley, KS, 2027) 1.54, while Seward and Beau Peterson (Mill Valley, KS, 2026; Texas) tied each other with a 1.55.

Seward also comfortably led all athletes who performed the vertical jump test with a vertical measured at 32.4 inches while classmate Westphal managed to feature right next to him in most athletic categories as well.

And it’s worth mentioning 1B/OF Dominic Santarelli’s (Kenosha St. Joseph, WI, 2026) name here as well, considering he ran a 6.70 in the 60 with a 1.58 10-yard split and a 27.4-inch vertical all while measuring in at a muscle-bound 6-foot, 226 pounds. He has some of the biggest bat strength in the Midwest, if not the nation, and he’s shown that he isn’t a one-dimensional sluggish middle-of-the-order hitter, either.

And here, again, we see the 2025 AAG athletes find another way to stand out among the crowd as compared to years past.

Not only was this year’s event in Miami filled with dynamic athleticism, but it also featured power potential that is helping energize the draft stock that is swirling around these top performers already. Last year, INF Xavier Neyens (Mount Vernon, WA; MLB Draft, Pick No. 21, Astros) generated some of the biggest raw power of any prep talent in the country, recording a max EV of 110.6 mph from the left side, an all-time AAG record. Ultimately, that tool helped him become a top-25 pick in the summer’s Draft.

Neyens’ All-American EV record is safe, but his size and offensive profile remind us of this year’s AAG Home Run Derby champ who swatted balls effortlessly in the triple-digits: Beau Peterson. Peterson recorded a 107.4 mph high during batting practice of the showcase that took place the day before the AAG itself, and his average batted ball left his bat at over 100 mph – 100.8 to be exact, which is, in fact, a new AAG all-time record.

Peterson and Neyens’ frames are very similar to one another, and the two both aim for the fences from lofted bat paths and inherent strength that ties everything together. Peterson has a slight edge on Neyens’ run tool as well, so I’m eager to see how everything unfolds as he exits the winter and performs next spring.

And for me, one of the biggest takeaways from this year’s All-American Game is the degree in which SS Jacob Lombard (Gulliver Prep, FL, 2026) separated himself from the rest of the senior pack.

While he did not run the 60 at this event, it’s beyond clear that he’s at least a plus runner on the traditional scouting scale. Then, you have a blossoming lockdown shortstop defensively who earned this year’s MVP award based off two special plays that were genuinely Major League quality. And finally, Lombard’s right-handed bat has really leveled up in 2025 that completes the rest of this special picture.

He averaged an exit speed of 97.2 mph (106.8 max), which was the third highest of the hitters in attendance, and he connected for a hard-hit single in-game that left the bat at 95.9. It felt as if he got the chance to show off all five tools this weekend and he looked capable of becoming the very first player selected in the 2026 MLB Draft, right where we had him mocked going into the weekend.

This year’s crop of catchers from both dugouts will be one of the most impressive things about the 2025 AAG when we look back on it in four or five years.

Seniors Sean Dunlap (Crown Point, IN; Tennessee) and John Stowers (St. Paul’s Episcopal, AL; Auburn) get it done in different ways but both generate big raw power. Dunlap creates huge bat speed, especially from the right side, and he hit the hardest ball of the weekend in BP (109.4 mph) while Stowers averaged a higher EV (93.8) and his 107.0 max wasn’t all that far behind.

Juniors Will Brick (Christian Brothers, TN) and Broder Katke (Brother Rice, MI) exhibited bat strength beyond their years. Brick’s 109.0 mph max EV trailed Dunlap alone on the workout day, while Katke tied Stowers’ 107.0 mark. Brick came away from the event looking like one of the best pound-for-pound players there, frankly, as maybe the top catcher defensively overall, fit with an efficient, fast, and powerful right-handed swing that could earn him a first-round grade in the summer of 2027.

We’ll call this the OF Lash Henderson (Prestonwood Christian, TX, 2027) section.

Henderson is built at a brawny 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, with impressive (and obvious) muscle tone that’s clearly not just for show. He led the event in grip strength (with either hand) which directly resulted in him launching some of the longest and farthest contact that the All-American Game has ever hosted. In fact, Henderson’s best ball traveled 430 feet on TrackMan, which earned him the all-time max distance record by a single foot.

In one of the coolest moments in AAG history, during Friday’s BP, Henderson slugged five consecutive home runs. Naturally, he has some pretty special batted-ball and swing metrics: 96.6 mph avg. EV (107.6 max), 323-foot avg. batted distance, 73.4 mph avg. bat speed, with an optimal average attack angle (12 degrees) that helps him maximize his raw right-handed bat strength.

Two others connected for balls that traveled over 420 feet: the senior catcher Stowers and the electric athlete Seward. Both sent their best-struck balls 426 feet, and both look like impact players at the next level given their standout skill sets on defense that only look that much more valuable when you factor in their game power potential.

The 2025 Future Games 16U MVP Sebastian Castillo (Byron Nelson, TX, 2027) has dynamite bat speed and strength for his shortstop profile, and he launched a ball 413 feet at the workout which helped him maintain momentum as one of the most exciting players in the junior class.

Expectedly, the Wisconsin slugger Santarelli smashed his way on here as well, connecting for a line-drive home run that hit the front row of the right field bleachers 411 feet from home at 105.9 mph. OF Trevor Condon (Etowah, GA, 2026; Tennessee) has one of the most accurate barrels in the class, and his natural lifted bat path helps him carry balls over the wall with relative ease.

The very best hitters at the MLB level, using Statcast data, share some special swing characteristics. In 2025, MLB hitters with xSLG rates of .515 or higher (essentially the best 30 hitters in the game this year) averaged an in-game exit velo of 92.1 mph from 74.4 mph bat speed at a 12.2 degree attack angle (and a 46.1% fast swing rate). So, we tried to value the All-Americans who generated both premium bat speed and rotational acceleration metrics who also find the barrel consistently and within the ideal 10-16 degree attack angle range that optimizes the player’s bat strength and launch.

Here’s what I found.

Basically, you want to be as close to that star as possible.

I broke it down into three checkpoints: Efficiency (attack angle plus sweet spot and on-plane efficiency rate), Force (elite bat speed plus above-average rotational speed), and Strength (premium average and max EVs). The star representing the “MLB Impact” hitter reaches all three of these checkpoints at game speed, which isn’t something we’re collecting on our end unfortunately, but still, we’re able to get close with the data that we do have available to us.

No player checked all three boxes, and that makes sense, considering the kind of all-world talents are capable of doing such a thing. However, six players really stood out within these markers: OF Noah Wilson (McCallie, TN, 2026; Vanderbilt) and OF Jake Turner (Centennial, NV, 2027; TCU), as well as aforementioned prospects Beau Peterson, Will Brick, Dylan Seward, and Dominic Santarelli.

Wilson deserves to be considered among the best overall prospects in the senior class, and he was the lone hitter to meet two of three checkpoints (Force and Efficiency) that we outlined. He generates elite bat speed from the left-handed batter’s box with equally impressive torque (20.7g avg.) off an efficient and dynamic swing path that helps him land barrels consistently. All of this bodes very well for his prospect status, considering he’s a burner on the basepaths with a center field profile.

The junior left/left Turner isn’t far away from hitting all three checkpoints himself. He already produces huge EVs (106.1 mph max) and he led the event in average bat speed (78.1 mph), and his rotational acceleration is only just outside of the target Force range (15.1g avg.). At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Turner feels like he can become a future impact MLB slugger one day, given the quality of contact he’s already making, boosted by his beneficial swing path and explosiveness.

The others are familiar faces here, proving themselves to be the elite hitters of the bunch – although the No. 1-ranked Lombard probably deserves a shoutout as well. He nearly met all three checkpoints too, showcasing bat speed, rotational acceleration, and bat strength off an optimal and efficient bat path.

This next chart helps highlight the value of both big bat speed in combination with torque (a.k.a. rotational acceleration). If the best MLB hitters are reaching 75-plus mph bat speed on their best swings and something like 18g of RA at least, let’s see how many All-Americans were able to reach a similar zone in BP on Friday.

Four hitters reached that threshold: Booth Jr., Wilson, Westphal, and Santarelli. Another six or so bats hovered just outside that range as well, all names that have become familiar to us by this point.

You’ll see that Booth Jr. somewhat separated himself from the pack here, producing some of the best bat speed there as well as the second highest average rotational acceleration (27.2g). According to Blast, if the bat speed’s high in a BP setting, you can expect it to more effectively translate to game swings if the player also generates high-end RA metrics, which is how Booth Jr. stands out here, same goes for Wilson.

Santarelli lands barrels efficiently, even if the attack angle is a little too flat – especially when you consider his raw power potential – but he’s also one of the few hitters who reached both those bat speed and torque thresholds, which is simply harder to come by.

Westphal is the lone ‘27 to land inside that “MLB Impact Band,” which certainly signals a bright offensive future. Fellow juniors Turner, Seward, and Brick were each just outside of the range, falling short in RA – but they’re looking like the premium bats inside the ‘27 class as it stands.
