John Wood commit. Currently ranked No. 252 in the state. Possesses an athletic 6-foot, 143-pound frame with projectability. Pitched two innings of relief for the Griffins in their win against Routt Catholic, mostly using a mid-80s fastball that topped out at 87. The fastball had some life to it with some deceptive speed that missed a lot of bats. Gave up a home run in the bottom of the 7th, but rebounded nicely in extras and secured the win for the Griffins.

Recent John Wood CC commit, RHP Evan Koontz (Father McGivney, 2025) presents a wiry build with projection at 6-foot, 143-pounds. Koontz displayed the ability to throw strikes with both the fastball and the breaking ball during his outing. His fastball sat 81-85 mph (T87) with arm-side run and carry through the zone with above average spin to pair (avg. 2454 rpm). His slider had hard bite from a tight 9/3 shape, spinning with an average of 2612 rpm. Koontz finished with two punchouts over his two innings of work.

FB: T87, 81-86 mph. Slight arm-side run with carry. Spun efficiently. T2612, 2454 average rpm.
SL: 71-78 mph. Hard biting/tight 3/9 spin. Spun effectively off of fastball (About 2600 RPM). T2690, 2612 average rpm.
