RHP/OF Cullen Schwigen (Rockridge, 2027) had a dominant outing striking out three over two innings pitched while not allowing a hit. The former Future Gamer is an athletic, physical 6-foot-2, 195-pound who utilized a two-pitch mix. Fastball sat 86-89 mph with life through zone and max spin rate of 2537 rpm. Put guys away with a sharp breaking ball that had 10/4 shape with sweep and some depth (avg. -16.5 HM). Schwigen would also show a strong right-handed bat, showing some loft-based intent, pull-side tendencies, and bat speed that produced a max of 81.2 mph and an average of 76.2 mph. Also took a quality round of batting practice with a 96.8 mph max exit velocity and an average of 88.2 mph. 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame with present athleticism and strength. Currently the no. 10th ranked player in the state and no. 178th nationally, Schwigen is a must-know uncommitted name within the state’s junior class.

OF Cullen Schwigen (Rockridge) is yet another two-way to follow this week as the No. 10 player in Illinois, and he looked the part in the positional workout. A high-level QB1 on the gridiron, Schwigen has a physical and lean frame standing at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. He has a strong right-handed swing with a compact stroke, creating easy jump off the barrel with a peak EV of 99.4 mph - averaging 75.7 mph for his bat-speed. He moves well for his size with a 6.94 in the 60, and he has a well above-average arm (T91 mph OF) to pair. PITCHING: Schwigen struck out four over his two innings of work, going to a FB/CB mix. The fastball played 86-88 mph, topping out at 89 mph with some life up in the zone. The curveball showed bite with an 11/5 shape, 71-73 mph, depth and two-plane break. He’s an easy, athletic mover with a quick arm and simple delivery, should continue to make jumps.
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 10 in the state and No. 203 nationally. Strong 6-foot-2, 195-pound athletic frame. Premium two-sport athlete, quarterback that has received interest from high-level schools. Started at short and hit out of the two-hole. Schwigen had quite the day both at the plate and on the mound. On the mound, he struck out six batters through three and two-thirds innings. The right-hander operates from a tall/fall delivery with a high leg lift. Clean, compact, quick arm action from a ¾ slot. Fastball was firm while sitting 87-89 and topped out at 90 with life. Mixed in a curveball that sat 72-75 with sharp, late actions and an 11/5 shape. Curveball shows out-potential. Struck out five of his first ten batters faced. At the plate, Schwigen went 2-for-4 on Saturday. The right-handed hitter operates from a wide, upright stance with a short stride. Showed a whippy, compact swing with a flat bat path. Strong hands with a gap-to-gap approach. Connected on two singles up the middle.
RHP/OF Cullen Schwigen (Rockridge, 2027) possesses a proportionate and athletic 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame with strength throughout. At this year’s preseason ID, his fastball topped 85.7 mph while sitting 83-85 mph with an excellent maximum spin rate of 2410 rpm. He threw a confident and hard breaking curveball as well as a changeup with fastball intent. He is an athletic mover down the mound and explodes toward the plate. On the other side of the ball, Schwigen has an upside operation at the plate, showing easy effort with balance and the ability to impact the baseball out front (T97 mph EV; T346’). He looks to be an athletic defender in the outfield with a quick first step and easy movements, pairing with an explosive arm up to 89 mph.

RHP/OF Cullen Schwigen (Rockridge) stands in a hard-to-miss and projectable 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame. He tossed two innings on the mound and struck out three, walked one and allowed one hit and no runs. His fastball touched 88.5 mph, but sat mostly 84-87 mph with quality spin (avg. 2265 rpm) and some ride through the zone. He continues to improve his 73-75 mph curveball, continuing to show more feel for the pitch. It’s a swing-and-miss potential pitch with an average of -15.8 inches of horizontal movement (T-20.4”). Schwigen also showed well with the bat; both in the workout and during gameplay. The right-handed hitter swung a heavy barrel - reaching a max EV of 91.2 mph and peak distance of 355 feet during the workout. In-game, his power translated nearly leaving the yard twice with both a pull-side and a backside double. Schwigen’s impressive two-way profile makes him a must-know name in the state’s 2027 class.

Hit: RHH. Upright setup, short stride that gains ground, repeats. Flat path, short to the ball, looks to keep the ball on a line, pull-side approach. 75.9 mph bat speed with 14 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 86.8 mph. 355’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 87 mph. 3/4 slot, full arc, carry through throw, accurate.
Defense: One hand side gather, confident, aggressive, athletic shuffle through throwing motion.

Schwigen (Rockridge, 2027)had an impressive outing on the mound in the day’s first slot. He stands in a hard-to-miss frame at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds with more still to come. He finished the game throwing a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts, one walk and five hits allowed. He displayed a clean delivery paired with a compact arm action and acceleration out front, sitting mostly 85-88 mph on his fastball with arm-side run at times, producing quality spin at 2300-2400 rpm. He also mixed in a sharp breaking curveball at 75-76, showing feel to land for strikes, and a change-up at 79-82 mph. A high-follow prospect in Illinois’ 2027 class.

A 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame with projection, Schwigen has a quick arm and his fastball sat 83-85 mph, topping out at 86 mph. He showed a curveball, too, which sat 67-69 mph with 11/5 shape.
