Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 65 in Illinois’ 2025 class. Stands in a well-built frame at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. Started on the mound for Mattoon in game one of the day and threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts, five walks and one run allowed. Heavy usage of a fastball that sat in the low-80s throughout the game, touching 86 mph often, with arm-side run at times. Mixed in a curveball with 11/5 shape, sitting 68-71 mph. An uncommitted name to know in the state’s junior class.

RHP Joseph Stewart (Mattoon, 2025) gave an upside look in front of our scouting staff. Listed at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. Loose, easy mover, works in-line and gains ground easily down the mound. The right-hander struck out one and walked one over 1.1 innings of work, not allowing an earned run. His fastball worked in the 83-86 mph range, topping out at 87 mph with some carry and over 13” of run at times. Slider worked in the 70-84 mph range with short 10/4 shape. Flashed a straight changeup at 79-80 mph to fill out his arsenal.

RHP Joseph Stewart (Mattoon, 2025) emerged as a 2025 arm to know in Central Illinois. Standing at a physical 6-foot-1, 210-pounds, Stewart had one of the liveliest fastballs of the day, sitting 84-87 mph and topping out at 87.2 mph. He threw two offspeed pitches, one being a slider that sat 68-72 mph with 10.9 in. of horizontal movement, on average. His changeup sat 75-77 mph with an average of 12.7 in. of horizontal movement and 10.8 in. of induced vertical break. Stewart is a name to follow in Illinois’ 2025 class after an impressive look in this event.
