Recently back on the market after a decommitment from Louisville, RHP Luke Oblen (De Paul College Prep, 2024) featured a four pitch mix with an 88-90 mph fastball that topped at 91 mph, working mostly down in the zone. Oblen showed a slider, cutter and changeup, his slider showed to be his best compliment to his fastball spinning in the 2400 range at 75-79 mph.
Positional Profile: RHP/2B
Body: 6-3, 198-pounds. Strong, athletic build.
Delivery: Side step rocker, high leg lift, tall and fall delivery, in-line.
Arm Action: RH. Quick separation and arm speed, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T91, 88-90 mph. Down in the zone, sink action. T2337, 2271 average rpm.
SL: 75-79 mph. 10/4 shape, above average spin. T2434, 2410 average rpm.
CH: 81-82 mph. Sink to arm side, average feel. T2005, 1858 average rpm.
CUT: 83-85 mph. Slight cut to glove side.

Hit: RHH. Simple balanced setup, smooth load, high leg lift. Repeatable swing, quick hands, short level swing, gap-to-gap approach, fluid rhythm.

5-foot-11, 175 pounds; advanced physical stature. Started for Elite Baseball Training at third base. Simple, balanced setup, loose/athletic hands create premium bat speed, exceptional for age. This, combined with his size, created some advanced quality of contact over the weekend. He also took the mound; short, loose, easy effort with arm speed and strength. Fastball sat 78-80 mph, touched 81, with some natural arm-side tail. He displayed a sharp, late breaking curveball that projects well as he develops the feel for it.
Luke Oblen (DePaul College Prep, 2024) reached an 81 mph high with a feel to spin. Oblen also squared up some baseballs from the right-handed batter’s box, giving him some added two-way potential.

CB: 59-62 mph. 12/6 shape, gradual action, depth at times.
CH: 64-66 mph. Sinking action.
