PBR at The Rock 13U & 14U: Scout Blog

By Wisconsin Staff

From May 29 to May 31, the PBR Wisconsin staff helped facilitate the state’s careful return to baseball by hosting the PBR at The Rock 13/14U Championships at The Rock Complex in Franklin, Wis. We’ve taken the time to compile and share notes amongst our staff to produce the Scout Blog below, featuring nearly 100 of this past weekend’s standouts.

In case you missed any of our earlier coverage on this event, click on one of the following links spotlighting the highlights from each of the three days: Quick Hits, Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.

Deed Capper, OF, Homestead (WI), 2024
6-foot-1, 170 pounds; long, lanky levers with some athleticism, played right field primarily over the weekend. Levers help him create some whippy, hard contact with loose right-handed bat. Against Chicago Elite on Friday, produced hard-hit contact in two of his at-bats, one for a line-drive single to center, and another pulled hard just foul. Also threw a runner out at second with big arm strength.

Tannis Lange, LHP, Waukesha South (WI), 2024
5-foot-11, 185 pounds; athletic, lean left/left prospect. Made two appearances over the weekend, one on Friday and another on Sunday, struck out seven total in his 3.2 innings of work, while walking seven. Sat 73-75 mph on Friday, topping 76, with a loose, athletic arm.

Josh Diorio, 3B/C, Whitnall (WI), 2024

Athletic build. Started on the mound against Forceout on Friday. Loose and clean arm action, high ¾ slot, quick draw. Athletic on the mound, repeatable delivery, strong front side, closed-toe landing. Got in rhythm early and maintained it throughout his start. Fastball sat at a firm 73-75 mph with late arm-side run, showed easy control to both sides of the plate, and often worked ahead. Curveball played between 60-62 mph, 11/5 shape, gradual action, feel to spin. Struck out eight batters in four innings of work.

Evan Saxe, MIF, Franklin (WI), 2024
Lean build, showed some athleticism through the weekend. Right-handed hitter with present barrel feel; short, compact bat path that produced some hard-hit contact with bat speed. Slugged a deep double to left field against Prospect Training Academy White on Friday.

Reece Doyle, 1B, Oak Creek (WI), 2024

Athletic feet in the field, steady hands, showed advanced defensive instincts several times against Milwaukee Hitmen.

Grayson Fluguar, SS/RHP, Franklin (WI), 2024
Got the start on the mound for PTA 14U in their final game of the event. Flugaur has a clean, uninterrupted arm action, controlled the strike zone and sat at an easy 75-77 mph that he was able to hold throughout the outing; jumps through the zone. Mixed in a 11/5 breaking ball to keep hitters honest but it was his ability to command the fastball that impressed above all. Plays shortstop when he’s not pitching; athletic actions, ranges well to both sides, above-average arm strength that carries with accuracy. Patient left-handed hitter with a loose bat and athletic hands that help create bat speed; quick first step out of the box. A follow 2024 two-way prospect moving forward.

Bradyn Horn, OF, Muskego (WI), 2024
5-foot-9, 140-pound right-handed hitting outfielder; lean, lanky frame with athleticism. Led off for STiKS Black all weekend while playing center field. Aggressive approach at the plate, regularly jumped on the first pitch of his at-bats; still has strike zone feel and did not swing and miss or chase much out of the zone. Loose/athletic hands help time up contact and barrel baseballs to all fields; squared up contact on Sunday to right field and on a deep triple to left. He’s an above-average runner who moves well around the bases and in the outfield. Defensively, showed good range on routes to both sides; throws also carried. Threw out a runner at home, efficiently funneling a ground ball to throwing position.

Brady Johnson, C/1B, St. Thomas More (WI), 2024
6-foot, 180 pounds; big frame, advanced strength. Right-handed hitter who squared up some of the hardest contact of the tournament. On Sunday, consistently barreled up the baseball without swinging and missing. Recorded four hits on Sunday, each of which were barreled with premium bat strength: two singles to center field and two extra-base hits driven through the left-center gap. Hits from a tall setup, rhythmic pre-pitch helps him sync up and time the barrel well, short path, fast bat speed, high two-hand finish. Got behind the plate in game two on Sunday at Milkmen Field, flexible and dependable in the crouch, protecting balls in the dirt from big backstop. Sturdy receiver with above-average quickness out of the chute, especially for his size. Popped an off-target 2.25 in-game and nearly threw out a baserunner with a 2.57, athletically receiving a pitch to his left, well out of the strike zone, efficiently gathering and releasing to the bag with arm strength.

Cooper Kamlay, INF/RHP, Franklin (WI), 2024
5-foot-9, 140 pounds; compact athlete with some strength. Right-handed hitter, weight shift load back, flat path, some strength through contact; competitive at-bats, hit third for STiKS Black all weekend. Trevor Dreier, 3B, Menomonee Falls (WI), 2025
Strong lower half. Balanced setup, wide base, hands slot straight back, short stride. Bat stays level through the zone, occasionally finds the barrel, line-drive approach. Vocal defender at third base with average arm strength.

Solid build right-handed pitcher. Delivery is methodical and repeatable. Long arm action, plays out of high ¾ slot, low effort arm. Fastball sat 77-78 in two innings of work, touching 79, flashed arm-side run. Change showed sinking action at 73-75 mph.

Justin Phillips, INF, Lockport (IL), 2024
Right-handed hitting infielder. Lean, athletic frame. Turned in a strong performance at the plate for the Upper Deck Cougars in their lone game on day one. Phillips went 3-for-3, finding the barrel in each at-bat on Friday and flashing some raw pull-side juice.

Alex Galinda, OF, N/A (2023)
Impressed on all sides of the ball for Upper Deck’s win on the final day of the event. Galindo made two highlight reel catches in center field showing off an impressive first step and advanced range that should keep him in center moving forward. Right-handed hitter, quiet swing, lets the ball travel and has quick, twitchy hands helping the ball jump off the barrel.
