OF/RHP Nate George (Minooka, 2024), a recent Eastern Illinois commit, put together an eye-opening performance, led by his 6.39 60-yard dash on the Swift Timing System. That 60-time was head and shoulders above the rest of the pack, with the second-best time coming in at 6.65. At the plate, he continued his strong day, showing elite bat speed for his age, taking violent controlled hacks while staying on the barrel and peppering the left-center field gap with loud contact. George led the field with a 103.7 max exit velocity, as well as a 376’ max batted ball. Defensively, George is highly athletic, as backed up by his 60; moving through the ball with intent and active footwork before transitioning into an athletic crow hop. His arm is clean and fluid throughout its’ path, playing with easy life and accuracy while reaching up to 94 mph. The 6-foot, 190-pound, on-the-rise junior also hopped on the mound and topped at 88.9 mph.

A muscular 6-foot, 175-pound athlete, George averaged 90.3 mph off his right-handed barrel, peaking at 96.7 mph and sending his furthest batted ball 357 feet, per TrackMan. Though he didn’t run at this event, George has run as fast as a 6.64 60 at our events in the past and he jumped 31.3 inches on the vertical test, too. That night, George hopped on the mound and pumped his fastball at 82-85 mph with hard arm-side action at times. He landed a 66-70 mph curveball around the zone for strikes and faded his low-70s changeup, too.

The athletically built 5-foot-11, 165-pound sophomore is a dynamic athlete who can impact the game in a number of ways. George started his day by floating around the outfield with athletic actions, quick feet and strong arm that topped at 89 mph. He the proceeded to run a 6.64, the top 60-yard dash of the event. The talented right-handed hitter then got in the box and showed off an athletic, aggressive swing with quick strong hands and all kinds of jump off the barrel (95 mph max exit velocity) given his wiry-strong frame. The two-way prospect capped his day with a highly-intriguing ‘pen, proving that his athleticism easily transfers over to the mound. With a compact/repeatable delivery and clean arm, his fastball worked up to 84.6 mph with ride through the zone and life out of the hand. He used a curveball with short 10/4 action to play off a similar plane, consistently landing it in the zone for strikes at 69-70 mph. With a straight changeup kept down in the zone at 74-76 mph, he showed a promising third offering to keep would-be hitters off balance. High-follow 2024 prospect to know moving forward.
