5.8.18- Adding from Week 6 Scout Blog. Deluga sat 89 in the first inning against Libertyville, 86-87 in the fourth inning. Showed improved command and comfort with curveball. Offering at 74-76, 2/8 shape, flashed sharp action. Challenged lefties with curveballs he would start at the front leg and bend into the zone.

4.24.18 - High Follow 2020. Currently ranked No. 13 in Illinois’ Class of 2020 and No. 286 in the Overall rankings. 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed pitcher, proportionally built with strong, broad shoulders. Had previously worked exclusively out of the stretch, featured a simple wind up delivery this outing, still with lift to squared landing. High ¾ slot, arm action is long on the backside, has seemingly smoothed out wrist action at the apex of his draw, works loosely and quickly out front. Fastball, slight armside run, sat 88-89, touching 91 in the first inning, dipped slightly to 86-88 by the fifth (last seen sitting 84-86 @ Underclass Invitational on 2.18.18). Curveball, 72-76, 2/8 shape, sharp action, can manipulate into a sweeping action, on occasion arm action becomes too long on the backside causing him to miss high and away to righties. Tossed 5.0 innings against Lake Forest, allowing five hits and one earned run while striking out 12. 

2.18.18 - 6-foot, 175-pound left/left-two way player, solid broad shouldered build, projects best on the mound. Stretch only delivery, simply lift to squared landing, minimal moving parts. Arm action draws long on backside, plays out of tight high ¾ window, loose out front with arm speed. Fastball runs late to arm side, showed ability to command, sat 85-86 mph. Curveball has 1/7 shape with feel and flashed sharp action, 72-73 mph. Changeup also controls the zone, slight fading action, 74-78 mph. Showed similar arm strength defensively, 88 mph from the outfield. Aggressive through the baseball, feet and hands worked together. 7.00 runner in the 60. Hits from a balanced stance, short stride, solid balance. Bat path is short, some uphill plane, occasional late timing. 83 mph exit velocity from the tee.  

7.24.17 - 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting LHP/OF with a strong frame. Established himself as one of the top arms in the Illinois Class of 2020. Works from a ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Works exclusively out of the stretch. Tall and fall delivery with easy effort, slightly closed landing with an upright finish. Hides the ball well. Fastball was firm with late running action at 84-85 topping out at 86 mph. Curveball has 2-8 shape at 69 mph. Can back foot RHHs for swings and misses. Featured a changeup in warmups at 71-72 mph. Struckout all four hitters he faced. Offensively hits from a tall, narrow setup with a short leg lift stride and average balance. Short, leve swing path. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.33 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Throws showed carry from the outfield at 87 mph.

7.14.17 - 6-foot-1, 175-pound, left-handed hitting centerfielder/left-handed pitcher with a strong, athletic frame. Offensively, hits from a balanced setup with a short stride. Fluid rhythm, path works short. Ability to make consistent hard contact. Hit a long home run to right-center. Defensively, has above average arm strength for his age. Makes quick reads and showed range in center with fluid footwork. On the mound works from a high ¾ slot, square landing, works in line with home plate, short arm circle on the backside, quick arm. Fastball sat 84-85 with some run. Second inning worked more in the 80-82 mph range with occasional cut. Breaking ball had a 2/7 shape 69-70 mph.

3.6.16 - 5-foot-10, 155-pound left-handed hitting OF/LHP with an athletic frame. Offensively hits from a narrow setup with a short stride and good balance. Gap to gap hitter with a short swing path and fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.32. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange and fluid footwork. Threw 81 mph from the outfield. Projects very well on the mound. Works from a ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action, and lightning quick arm. Tall and fall delivery with a hesitation at balance point. Square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball showed late sinking action at 81-82 mph for strikes. Curveball has 1-7 shape with gradual action at 68-70 mph. Changeup has sinking and fading action at 7-71 mph.

Summer 2020: Recently graduated prep Noah DeLugo (Lake Zurich HS, IL/Minnesota) is off to a successful start to his college career with a 1.59 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 11.1 IP. The future Gopher lefty mixes an 85-87 mph fastball spinning in the low 2100s with a 77 mph slider and 72 mph change-of-pace.
