Aurora commit. Stands at a strong 5-foot-10, 185-pounds. Started on the mound for the Spartans in their 3A super-sectional game. Stretch-only delivery, throws with intent and effort downhill, finishes  on a strong lead leg that lands in-line. Compact arm action with high ¾ release. Fastball touched 87 mph in the first, sat 83-86 mph throughout, working mostly straight. Mixed in a curveball that sat 73-76 mph with 11/5 shape, swing-and-miss pitch, 2300 rpm spin rate. An impressive look from the senior headed to Aurora University.

Power: 82 mph exit velocity from the tee.

Defense: Steady hands, clean exchange. 
Run: 7.84 runner in the 60. 

Piazza has seen his velocity tick up slightly from the winter (73-75, T76 mph) to 76-78 mph in Friday’s outing. The loose arm right-hander mixed in a steady set of 65-67 mph breaking balls and ended up striking out nine in 4.2 innings pitched.

5-foot-2, 125-pound, two-way prospect. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, forward rocker step, tall and fall delivery, stays on-line, lands square with regular effort throughout. Long arm action out of a high ¾ to ¾ release. Fastball, sinking action, 58-61 mph. Curveball 12/6 to 11/5 shape, near fastball arm speed, 52-53 mph. Changeup, flashed sinking action at times, 53-57 mph. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride, long bat path and 68 mph exit velocity from a tee. On the infield, clean transfer, long arm action, high ¾ slot and throws topped at 61 mph across the infield. 9.27 runner in the 60.
