2/22/21

Entered the Arkansas game and pumped 94-96 mph cheddar from a low three-quarter slot, but was hit hard for four runs in his two innings pitched.

5.27.17 - Texas Tech recruit. 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic build with proportional strength and room for continued physical development. One of the top pitching prospects in Illinois’ 2017 class, evidenced by his remarkable performance against rival Joliet Catholic in the Class 3A playoffs. Working exclusively out of the stretch from a high-3/4 slot, Sublette pitched the entire game at 92-94 mph with his two-seam fastball, dotting it at the knees to both sides of the plate with late arm-side finish. Touched 95 three times. His final pitch during the 90-minute game was 94, on the black, with sink. Every fastball in the seventh was 93-94. Only two fastballs in the game - both in the sixth inning - dipped to 90 mph. Pounded the strike zone all game long - walked only one batter in the fifth inning with two outs. Extremely quick, athletic arm action, fast hand out front, aggressive demeanor, some effort involved but certainly wasn’t over-exerting himself to reach and maintain premium velocity. Rightfully lived off his fastball, but began shuffling more curveballs later in the game. Breaking ball had inconsistent shape, flashed a few with sharpness and depth at 74-76. Throws it aggressively, similar fastball arm action. Got a pair of strikeouts on curveballs to open the fifth inning, both looking. Also flashed a few 82-83 mph splitters. Final line: 1 hit, 0 runs, 10 strikeouts, one walk. Overall electric performance.

9.29.16 - Verbally committed to Texas Tech.

6.1.16 - See earlier report below from 5/25/16 vs. Manteno. Showed much of the same mechanically and stuff wise. Fastball sat 87-89 mph for much of the game. Curveball looked more aggressive and harder at 70-74 mph. Overall showed better command of his stuff in this outing as well. Pitched aggressively in the strike zone and showed a high energy competitiveness.

5.25.16 - 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, lean athletic frame. Delivery worked exclusively from the stretch, quick lifting balance position, toe down, load and go type delivery, utilizes slide step with runner on, slight head snap. Arm action is short and quick, high ¾ slot, low elbow tendency. Fastball sat 88-90 mph in the first, mostly straight and flat, flashed occasional arm side run, settled in at 86-88 mph for most of the outing, finished at 87-88 in the seventh striking out the side, quick arm that showe the ability to hold velocity through seven innings. Curveball showed depth, slower rolling type breaking ball, 68-71 mph, 11/5 plane. Flashed a changeup at 76 mph, used sparingly. Sublette is a high follow uncommitted 2017 with a quick arm, as breaking ball tightens up he could see more swing and misses down the road.

3.30.15 - 6-foot-3, 180-pound lanky and athletic right-handed pitcher works from a short, high ¾ arm slot, exclusively from the stretch, utilizes a hand bump for rhythm, syncs up well with leg lift, lower half stride direction is in line with home plate, athletic finish, repeats delivery. Fastball sat 83-86 mph throughout his outing, touching 87 and 88 each once. Curveball thrown mostly 66-67 mph, touched 71 mph, 11/5 shape, confidence in it in any count, lands for strikes, added power will turn it into a plus offering. Also flashed a 75 mph change with sinking action. Sublette is currently ranked No. 9 in Illinois’ 2017 class and could easily be an upper 80’s to low 90’s arm by the end of his high school career. High follow prospect remains uncommitted.

12.14.14 - Projectable and athletic 6-foot-3, 180-pound right-hander ranked No. 4 in Illinios’ 2017 class threw a light bullpen (his first of the winter) at 81-84 mph touching 85 on his final pitch. He also shows feel for spinning a 63-65 mph 12/6 curveball, that was much harder (in the 66-68 mph range) this fall. Sublette only threw about 12 pitches to give coaches a look at his mechanics, and should form a solid 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation for Lemont along with Garret Acton.

9.19.14 - Sublette may have made more of an impact down the stretch for Lemont's 2014 3A State Championship squad if not for breaking his ankle sliding. Early in the season, Sublette allowed one hit in six innings of work with ten strikeouts and one walk in a victory over Tinley Park. Fully healed this fall, the projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pound righty worked at 83-85 mph from a short, loose, high-¾ arm slot, delivery stays balanced throughout, slight head tilt/jerk at extension. True 12/6 breaking ball is a hammer, thrown in the 66-68 mph range with future plus potential. Shows advanced feel for 75-77 mph change as well. Threw 81 mph from the outfield, and ran a 7.4 60.
