Kaskaskia commit, currently ranked No. 252 in the state. Listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds. Played third base for the Griffins although he also has been strong defensively in the past. A left-handed hitter, Phelps had two hard hits to the opposite field, including a two-run double that found the left-center gap to open the scoring on an outside fastball. Strong feel for the barrel all game, hit the ball to all fields throughout. Finished the day 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Defensively, he’s light on his feet and has solid range at third base with plenty of athleticism that should translate well behind the plate if he continues to be a catcher going forward.
