Lincoln Land signee. Ranked No. 55 in Illinois’ senior class. Stands in an athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame. Started on the mound for the Senators and showed well. Threw eight innings, struck out 10, walked none, allowed two runs and four hits. Competes on every pitch, mixes his pitches well to keep hitters questioning and off-balanced, locates well. It’s a stretch-only delivery, he works in-line down the mound with minimal effort, has a loose arm path and an over-the-top slot. His fastball sat in the mid-80s, topping out at 87 mph twice. Showed two quality off-speeds, throwing both for strikes; his curveball sat 74-77 mph with 11/5 shape and a change-up at 76-79 mph with fade and noticeable deceleration. Impson gave an impressive look from both sides of the ball for Flood City. Legitimate two-way prospect that showed above-average athleticism. At the plate, worked a number of quality at-bats with an aggressive approach. Crushed a triple to the pull-side gap with a fluid right-handed swing. Advanced instincts on the base-paths. Stole bases on back-to-back pitches multiple times throughout the weekend. Behind the plate, fluid glove movement that stole strikes with advanced arm strength. Hopped on the mound to close out the game with a quick arm that sat 85-87 mph with the fastball. Also went to a mid-70’s curve-ball that was thrown confidently. 

Uncommitted. 6-foot, 170-pound well-proportioned frame with athleticism and lean strength. Turned in a strong start for the Senators despite the loss, punching out eight over seven innings of work and allowing just an earned run. Simple, clean, and free-flowing stretch-only operation that he repeated with consistency. Stays in sync down the mound, works with tempo and maintains direction to target throughout. Arm plays with some reach on the backside, lands on time and finishes out of a loose, quick high ¾ window. Fastball comes out clean, sat 86-88 mph through the first three innings, settling at 84-85 mph with straight four-seam action into the zone. Landed a tight breaking ball for strikes consistently, mirrored fastball plane with subtle break at 73-76 mph. Flashed a straight changeup at 77-79 mph, too. One of the most competitive athletes in the state, regardless of class, that remains on the market headed into a key summer.

The lone two-way prospect on Team Illinois, Seth Impson (Springfield, 2024) continues to impress everytime we get our eyes on him and came away a winner once again. Impson has a lean, athletic, 6-foot, 165-pound frame with more physicality to come and athleticism to all parts of his game. At the plate he stayed loose and easy, lining hard contact back up the middle with fluid rhythm throughout BP, flashing sneaky juice with his furthest batted ball traveling 356’. He finished game play 2-for-2 with a double and HBP. Behind the plate, he is an active, bouncy defender and his arm plays clean and quick with accuracy and a 2.02 low pop time. He also hopped on the mound and struck out four, walked one and did not give up a hit in two innings of work, running his fastball up to 84.5 mph with a three-pitch repertoire.

C/RHP Seth Impson (Springfield, 2024) emerged a two-way follow from this event from Central Illinois. At 6-foot, 165-pounds, Impson’s biggest attribute may be his work behind the plate, where he’s a steady receiver with a quick release, popping 1.87-to-1.94 during his workout, topping at 80 mph from the crouch. His arm strength translated to the mound, pumping his fastball at 83-86 mph while flashing feel for a curveball and changeup.

Uncommitted. Wiry, lean frame, 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. Started on the mound and took down a talented Normal University lineup, going all seven innings with no earned runs, five hits, five strikeouts and not walking a single batter. The right-hander’s arm plays with a clean arm-path into a ¾ slot. Impson works with a repeatable delivery down the mound, gliding from balance point into a stride that remains in-line; his shoulder mobility is above-average, loading his scaps and creating hip-shoulder separation at foot-strike. His fastball played mostly in the 80-83 mph range, reaching back for 85 mph once; coming out of the hand with some life to the arm-side and controlling the zone, also setting up his secondary. He went to his slider often, missing barrels and commanding over the zone with short 10/4 shape and throwing to both righties and lefties, 70-73 mph. Intriguing upside 2024 right-hander to follow.
