5/21/26
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 48 in the state’s sophomore class. Started in right field and batted in the nine-hole for the Lions, providing a boost from the bottom of the order with a two run home run in the first inning. The left-handed hitter possessed a balanced setup, employing a simple lift/place stride with strong hands that created length through the zone. Lockefeer went on to finish 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk, two RBIs, and a run scored. An intriguing sophomore that also has shown well at the catcher position as well.

C Hunter Lockefeer (St. Viator, 2028) is a year removed from his breakout showing at this event in 2025, and he’s made some noticeable strides to his game. The frame is trending in the right direction, standing in at 5-foot-9, 160-pounds, still holding plenty of room to add more strength. The left-handed hitter showed a fluid and flat swing with length through the zone in his round, staying controlled and balanced through impact with some loud results, elevating the baseball with a peak EV of 97 mph (T347’). The defense still proves to be an asset for him, getting rid of the ball quickly down to second with accurate strikes, getting as low as 2.02 for his pop-time. High follow prospect, more to dream on and should continue to gradually tap into his strength.

+ Another young left-handed hitting catcher to note from the day is Hunter Lockefeer (St. Viator, 2028). He took a polished round of BP while boasting a smooth and balanced swing, showing little perceived effort to deliver the barrel through the zone and create a max EV of 93 mph (T362’), showing some ability to manipulate the barrel at times. He took his defense both as a catcher and from the outfield; starting behind the plate, Lockefeer was a confident receiver of the baseball, working to present pitches around the zone for strikes with soft hands. He works in-line down to second on his throws, staying in his legs while working with a clean transfer, 2.19 pop-time. In the outfield, he showed athletic and clean footwork, moving well to both sides of his glove and reaching up to 82 mph from a crowhop.
