Morton College commit. Schaaf was absolutely dominant on the mound, pitching five innings. He allowed two hits and zero walks while striking out eight batters. He allowed no runs during the performance.
Schaaf had a very strong start against a talented Homewood-Flossmoor lineup. He pitched five innings and allowed zero earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four.

LHP Trace Schaaf (Lockport, 2026) showed some feel for spin with his three-pitch mix. Long-levered, projectable 6-foot-4, 175-pound frame. The left-hander operated out of a controlled delivery, showing a high leg lift with tuck, working in-line, with a full, whippy ¾ arm slot. Schaaf collected three strikeouts through his two innings of work. His fastball played with arm-side run at 80-83 mph, topping 84.7 mph with a max IVB of 16.1”. He also employed a 1/7 curveball at 68-70 mph with a spin rate in the ranges of 2300-2600+ rpm, and a fading changeup at 73-74 mph that he killed spin on.

Body: 6-3, 175.5-pounds. Long-levered, projectable frame with some additional room to add strength.
Delivery: Controlled delivery, high leg lift with tuck, works in-line.
Arm Action: LH. Full, whippy, 3/4 arm slot.
FB: T85, 80-83 mph. Arm-side run, works well arm-side. T2009, 1849 average rpm.
CB: 69-70 mph. 1/7 shape, showed depth with feel for the zone. T2610, 2453 average rpm.
CH: 73-73 mph. Flashed arm-side fade, killed spin. T1388, 1388 average rpm.
Uncommitted, Schaaf collected a complete game win over No. 19 Lincoln-Way East. He fired seven innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, and six strikeouts.
Uncommitted, Schaaf had a solid outing against Naperville Central, tossing five innings, allowing two runs, four hits, two walks, striking out five and getting the win.

Body: 6-3, 161.2-pounds.
Delivery: Staggered setup out of the windup, short side step into a high leg-lift, coils the upper-half before working down the mound in-line, drop/drive lower-half.
Arm Action: LH. Long whippy arm action, full extension backwards, high 3/4.
FB: T80, 77-79 mph. 4S: Straight action, able to keep on the corners. 2S: Willing to throw in any count, shows true ASR, able to place on outer-half. T2042, 1922 average rpm.
CB: 67-69 mph. Shorter, 2/8 shape. T2369, 2168 average rpm.
CH: 72-73 mph. Plays with slight run to the arm-side. T2033, 1963 average rpm.
Uncommitted. Started on the mound in the semi-final game of the DISW tournament and threw six innings, struck out four, walked one and allowed one hit enroute to their 10-0 win over Lemont.
Uncommitted. Started on the mound against Normal West and earned the win. Threw four no-hit, shutout innings and struck out eight while only walking one.

Schaaf is a lean 5-foot-10, 125-pounds left-handed pitcher for Chicago Elite Black. Throghout his outing he created soft contact using a three pitch mix. 18 first pitch strikes to 25 hitters with five strikeouts. Fluid tall-and-fall delivery, shoulders closed off slightly to home, lands squared with an athletic finish. Long, winged arm action with a high ¾ slot. A four seam fastball sat 68-69 mph while topping at 70. Off the fastball was a curveball on a 1/5 plane sitting 58-63 mph and a changeup with arm-side run holding at 65-66 mph.
