Coffey as a position player has a good body with strength to be ideal for the left side of the diamond. His throws show strength and are accurate. Glove and body balance with good feet allow him to play all over the diamond. Shows good instincts to catch and throw with range. Bat has good speed and good extension to barrel. Hits the ball hard and loud. Small cross stride ties up his front hip at times, although his bat speed and athleticism gives him the chance to adjust to higher end velocity. His power will continue to increase as he matures with his swing and playing time as an everyday player. His profile as a two-way player building to the future makes him an intriguing prospect.
PITCHING: Athletic strong, tall, well proportioned, two-way player. As a pitcher, he starts in the middle of rubber with a slight side step. Has a OH delivery with an abbreviated mid belt hand pump to generated his arm to release point to finish delivery out front. Easy arm action and range of motion to his shoulder. Natural feel for the ball to come out of hand. Has command of three pitches. FB velocity and quality of pitches will get better over time with normal training to pitch rather then, being a position player as well.
Athletic frame at 6-foot-3, 175 pounds. Showcased power potential during his BP round. Swing is easy, with little effort. Shows arm strength across the diamond. Athletic defensive actions with body control. 7.15 runner in the 60-yard dash. Frame and athleticism really project well.
