8/13/17- 5-foot-11, 190 pound catcher ran a 7.64 60 yard sprint. Strong build with present strength in lower half. #8 ranked catcher in the 2018 class for Kansas. Square stance at the plate, rthym and timing in long flat barrel path. Pull Side approach, consistently found the barrel for hard contact during round of BP. Posted an exit velocity of 83 mph off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.1-2.20 range, clean transfers, high ¾ release. Playable actions for first base, hands and feet work in sync. 

2/12/17 - Hughes is a 6-foot-1 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher, first baseman and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.71 laser timed 60 and a 4.88 home to first.  He has an 88 mph exit velo. At the plate, does not get cheated and takes an aggressive swing, balanced set up with high hands, controlled load into back side, level and quick bat speed, middle to pull side contact, flashed power.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.18 and 2.33-seconds, 67 mph positional velo, sets up with thin base, high three quarters release, somewhat accurate to first base. At first base, 74 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, loose arm action, momentum after the catch, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Hughes has a strong frame with a well-built lower half, over the top release with easy and loose arm action, mostly strikes with his fastball 73-76 mph, some showing arm side run, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape at 58-61 mph, change up 68-69 mph with arm side run. 

10/30/16 - Hughes is a durable 5-foot-11 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class. He ran a 7.59 60 and 4.78 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load into back side, short stride, aggressive swing, takes a hack, pull side power with mostly pull side contact during batting practice, quick bat speed.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.05 and 2.27-seconds, 68 mph positional velo, clean and consistent, high exchange with over the to release, momentum though the catch, mostly accurate throws. On the infield, 74 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, fluid footwork to the ball creating momentum to throw, accurate throws. On the mound, Hughes has a controlled delivery, throws with regular effort, in line stride, body stays under control, fastball at 73-77 mph, late running action, 11-to-5 breaking ball, gradual action, 63-68 mph, controllable change up 67-73 mph, arm side release, near fastball arm speed.

1/18/16 - Hughes is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Hughes ran a 4.64 home-to-first and had an 86 mph exit velo. Took an aggressive hack during batting practice, smooth load, level through the zone, line drives middle to pull side of cage, strong lower half, quick hands.  During catching evaluations, pop time between 2.10-2.29, 69 mph positional velo, over-the-top release, momentum through the catch and towards target, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.  Improvements across the board since last event. On the mound, fastball worked at 72-75 mph, down in the zone, stays on top of ball, curveball was 59-61 mph, 11-to-5 shape, change up has slight sink at 63-65 mph, fastball arm speed.  Body stays under control throughout delivery, clean arm action, level shoulders, finish towards first base side.

11/1/15 - Hughes is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Hughes ran a 7.78 60 and ran a 4.91 home to first.  At the plate, he had an 84 mph exit velo, had a good round of batting practice displaying consistent line drives, gap-to-gap, balanced stance, some hand load, level path with aggressive bat speed, singled to center in game action.  Behind the plate, pop times 2.20 and 2.54, positional velo of 68 mph, hand and feet in sync to throw, over the top release, fluid exchange, quick release, mostly accurate throws. As a pitcher, Hughes threw strikes with three pitches, fastball at 70-73 mph, curveball at 59-61 mph, down in zone, 12-to-6 shape, change up at 64-65 mph, arm side release, near fastball arm speed, struckout two and allowed two hits during inning of work, smooth tempo in delivery, repeats release, lands inline with athletic finish.

6/2/15 - Connor is a 5'10 170-pound right hand hitting catcher from Olathe North. Receives well and can catch and throw with pop times around 2.08 to 2.33 and a top velo of 67 mph.can move for a catcher posting a 7.57 60/yd. Strides long with a fluid load, makes consistent contact out front and uses the pull side of the field during BP with a exit velo of 85 mph.On the mound shows a easy repeatable delivery with a clean arm action and athletic finish, mostly landing square, with a in game fastball of 72-75 mph and a max of 76 mph and mixing in a 60 mph breaking ball.

10/19/14 - Hughes is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound right-hand hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher. At the plate, starts with a wide inline stance, short stride, drops hands during load, upper half dominant swing, maintains balance throughout, finishes with extension. Line drive, oppo approach. Exit velocity up to 79 mph. Behind the plate throws with short high three-quarters arm action, throwing velocity 67 mph, pop times 2.25-2.32, mostly accurate throws.  In the games threw a runner out at third base. On the mound has a very simple delivery, three-quarters arm action, arm works, strides inline, finishes square. Fastball 65-70 mph with early arm side run. Breaking ball with 11/5 shape 57-60.  Threw 9/16 strikes in game action.
