A top-5 prospect in Kansas’ 2025 class, C/OF Deacon Pomeroy (Shawnee Heights; Oklahoma State commit) put together a loud all-around performance at Tuesday’s event. As strong and physical as they come at 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, Pomeroy swung a heavy barrel from the right side, hammering balls from gap to gap with an inside-out swing, generating a 101.8 mph exit velocity and 392 feet peak distance - both top marks at the event. Better known for his work behind the plate, Pomeroy showed off his athleticism in the outfield while posting a 89 mph velocity to boot. Additionally, the senior ran a 6.97 60 for good measure.

At 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, there’s not many 2025 graduates built like Pomeroy in the Midwest. He’s the top-ranked prospect in Kansas for his class and it’s evident as to why when you watch him play. Pomeroy’s right-handed barrel produced several loud lazers off his bat that sounded different from his peers, displaying well advanced raw power for someone his age. Pomeroy’s physicality translates behind the plate, as he threw several accurate bullets with carry from behind the plate in between innings during the tournament. Pomeroy is set to attend the PBR Future Games as an underclassman with Team Select later this month.

Body: 6-3, 205-pounds. Advanced and athletic frame with present strength and projectable build
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height with a relaxed back elbow.  Strong weight shift into the lower half with a quick two tap stride and linear path with the lower half.  Works into a firm front leg.   Hands work quickly through the zone and shows good overall bat speed.  Direct routes to the ball with hands working to the inner half of the ball.  Keeps head behind contact well and gets good extension.  Long levered swing.  Maintains balance and athleticism throughout the swing.
Power: 96.8 max exit velocity, averaged 84.36 mph. 349’ max distance. Advanced strength for age with very good strength at contact and true power potential.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph.   High 3/4 arm slot with a short and quick arm action. 
Defense: 1.94-2.00 pop times. Works aggressively out of the crouch with good hips and feet. Throws had very good carry and accuracy to the bag with clean exchanges out of the glove.  Strong receiver with pitch framing skills and strong wrists.  Shows solid blocking technique with an upright posture and good recovery skills.
Run: 7.45 runner in the 60.
