7/14/20

Hit: Smooth swinger from the left side. Everything comes together well/very efficient sequence and path. Worked the entire field in BP. High follow bat. Talented player.
Power: Line drive pop with more to come.
Offensive Projection: Top of lineup.
Max Exit BP Exit Velocity: 86mph.
Max BP Distance: 283ft.

2/09/20

2/9/20 Position Player
Hit: Onate shows a mini leg kick to initiate his load and has a slight hover of the front foot before getting it down to really start his swing. Shows a bat path that borders on uphill but for the most part is on plane with the pitch.
Power: 76 mph exit velocity.
Offensive Projection: Shows a fairly small frame but a swing that might be able to compensate for some size deficiencies as he gets stronger. Could develop into a gap to gap guy.
Field: In the infield he waits on the ball a bit too much and shows average footwork but does show a quick arm with fairly good hands.
Throw: 78 mph across the diamond.
Defensive Projection: Probably more of a 2B type guy at the next level unless physical tools can keep him at SS as he matures.

6/12/19

Body Type: 5-foot-8, 130-pound athletic frame.
Swing Mechanics: Left-handed hitter that starts in an athletic stance. Flows thorugh athletic movements that create balance and energy.
Hit: Looks the part in the box. Aggressive swinger that maintains barrel accuracy. Swing really works. Any added strength should easily translate to pop. All fields guy.
Power: 78 mph exit velocity. Line drive with gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles.
Run: 4.81 H-1st.
Field: Moves very light on his feet with obvious bounce to his step. Shows a ton of athletic creativity out there. Talented defender who can pick it.
Throw: Average arm that works. Easily more velo down the road. Showed the ability to throw on the move and from multiple arm angles. 70 mph across the diamond.
Defensive Projection: Middle Infielder.

Body Type: 5-foot-8, 130-pound frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Athletic actions on the mound. Good mover with a clean arm and mobility. Varies tempo and has feel out there.
Fastball: 72-75 mpg. Mostly true through the zone. Should see easy velo increases as physical maturation takes its course with how clean he moves. High 90’s spin efficiency.
Curveball: 62-63 mph. 10/4, slurvish look with a nice combination of depth and sharpness to it.
Changeup: 64-65 mph. Flashed a changeup, maintains arm speed with some fade to it.
Pitchability: Strike thrower.

3/03/19

Body Type: 5-foot-8, 130-pounds with lengthy, athletic build

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: On the mound, the RHP has good tempo with a high leg kick. Has good weight transitions and keeps his shoulders squared to the plate. He throws downhill and stays around the zone

Fastball: FB is live with late life (69-73)

Curveball: CB is controlled with sharp 12/6 break (60)

Changeup: CH is controlled and has good depth towards RHH (64-66)

Pitchability: Good command of all his pitches

Role: Starter/ TBD

Additional Comments: Should add more velocity as he matures and continues to fill out

Hit: The LHH has natural loft in swing. Hands are explosive out of zone and finds barrel consistently. Has good rhythm in swing with natural feel in the box. Has a good load with hands and good weight transitions with legs.

Power: Line drive producer, gap to gap power with average pop

Offensive Projections: Top of order (74 exit velocity)

Run: 7.89 (60-yard dash)

Field: From SS he has above average footwork for his age and moves well laterally. He stays low and plays through the ball. He has good transfer as he follows his throws with above average arm strength. Loose lively arm.

Defensive Projection: SS or RHP

8/1/18
Well rounded player with aesthetic actions on both sides of the ball. Smooth infielder that looks to be able to play all three skill spots in the infield. At the plate he has a swing full of athletic, well timed movements to create energy and timing. Short, compact stroke with line drive abilities.

7/10/18
On the mound the righty uses a rhythmic delivery that is very repeatable. Regular effort required while working directionally well toward home. Shows a lot of the same athleticism on the bump with the motion. Long arm action working through a high ¾ slot with some looseness. Fastball is commanded to both sides of the zone at 65-68 mph. Breaking ball is big 11/5 bender with gradual break. Ability to throw for a strike in any count at 56-58 mph. Two-way prospect. Very smooth swinger from the left side. Movements are athletic and efficient in load, leading him to a balanced/energy filled trigger. Line drive type swinger who can use the entire field. Finds the barrel often with the ability to generate regular backspin. Feel hitter presently who should grow into some authority as he continues to develop physically. Really looks the part in the infield. Mechanically sound with well above average ball skills through fielding. Loose, clean arm that projects for more strength down the road. Can see him playing all three skill spots at an above average clip.
60-yard dash: 7.9
Infield Velocity: 66
Exit Velocity: 72

3/4/18
5-foot-4, 110 pound two-way athlete showed good mechanics with a smooth delivery on the mound. Arm is clean, working through a high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 63-66 mph. Curveball had some bite on an 11/5 plane. Pitch projects nicely as he should develop easy depth with velocity. Also showed a changeup that has potential. A strike thrower that filled up the zone with all three offerings. A talented position player that makes things look easy on the diamond. Actions are smooth in the box and with the glove. A lefty swinger that has efficient, fluid movements prior to launch. Finds plane well with feel for the barrel. Works to the middle of the field but will turn on the baseball when the opportunity presents itself. In the infield he is mechanically sound with advanced ball skills for age. It’s very early on in his career but looks to have a skill set that translate to the middle infield.
60-yard dash: 8.38
Infield Velocity: 65
Exit Velocity: 72
