10/15/22

vs Illinois StateWiry-framed freshman Logan Lunceford mixed an 89-91 fastball, an average knuckle curve at 79 mph with spin in the 1700s and a plus diving changeup during his one inning of work. His feel and the ability to pitch stood out, especially for someone just five months removed from high school.

2/02/20

A lean 6-foot, 155-pound frame with some developing strength and lots of room to add more. On the mound, the right-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm that he repeats well. Uses a moderate leg kick and lunging stride to get down the mound and finish balanced. Arm action is long and quick the the back coming through a near over the top slot with some arm speed. Fastball sits 79-82 mph with some late riding life and almost all strikes. Chageup is advanced, thrown with full arm speed, showing consistent fade at 69-70 mph, nearly all strikes. Curveball shows 11/5 shape at 63-65 mph.

2/02/20

Displayed a lean 6-foot, 155-pound frame with present athleticism in his actions and room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a leg-kick to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone. Hands work easily from load to the ball creating a swing that should work against velocity. Showed the ability to be on time consistently, evidenced by an 84 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. The middle infielder demonstrated advanced footwork arriving on time with regularity to the baseball. Played well through the ball with hands out in front and used a strong lower half to generate accurate 86 mph throws across the diamond out of a whippy, high ¾ arm-slot.

2/03/19

A  5-foot-10, 135-pound lean frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the right-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm and a high leg kick before driving down the mound and finishing slightly to the first base side. Arm action is long and loose in the back after dropping straight down of his glove before circling through a near over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 77-79 mph, nearly all strikes. Curveball has 12/6 shape with gradual and big break at 62-63 mph, nearly all strikes. Changeup is advanced, thrown with fastball arm speed and showing heavy and late fade at 67-69 mph, all strikes.

2/03/19

A 5-foot-10, 135-pound lean and projectable frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open and athletic set-up with some rhythm throughout. Uses a simple small load and short stride before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path through extension. In BP, shows a , 77 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.85 60. Defensively, clean and confident actions with well advanced hands and feet. Shows well advanced feel, throwing with multiple arm strokes and slots depending on the play. Shows excellent accuracy putting every throw on the bat at 77 mph across the diamond.

5/29/18

A lean and developing 5-foot-7, 125-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced and slightly open set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and hanging leg kick before launching his hands on a short path to contact with a very high finish. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field, flat approach, some barrels, 71 mph exit velo. Runs an 8.20 60. Defensively, shows athleticism and rhythm with well advanced hands and feet. Throws with a short arm action, coming through a ¾ slot, 71 mph across the diamond with accuracy. On the mound, the right-hander uses an average tempo delivery with rhythm and excellent leg drive down the mound.  Arm action is long and loose in the back coming through a high-¾ slot with quickness. Fastball keeps its plane at 73-74 mph. Curveball shows big 12/6 depth with tight spin for strikes, 61-62 mph. Changeup is still developing at 59-62 mph.
