6/15/20

Physical: Physical, athletic 5-foot-10, 173-pound frame with a smoothness throughout the movements. 7.00 runner in the 60-yard dash. Maryland commit

Offensively: RHH. Bent, slightly-open stance with the hands bouncing with controlled quickness at the shoulder for rhythm. Utilized a methodical toe-tap stride coupled with a small load back to the shoulder to create stretch at launch. Showcased innate feel for the barrel with whip in the swing working through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. The strength in the lower half stood out with controlled rotational violence creating advanced bat speed in the box. Displayed twitchiness in the hands allowing for current extra base-hit prowess and an adjustable lower half giving him the ability to stay on the offspeed pitch as well. Swung it well in-game at the PA State Games with a multitude of hard barrels to the pull-side and confidence in the box. Hit into a stiff front side during batting practice recording a max of 89 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.

Defensively: The primary catcher continues improving defensively and the receiving ability stood out; repeatedly beat the ball to the spot with a soft glove hand at the catch point. Low setup with quality in-line footwork towards the target and strength out of the crouch yielded pop times ranging from 1.93-2.01. Throws were accurate on the bag out of a fluid transfer working through a high ¾ arm-slot with quickness in the arm.  Worked hard for his pitchers behind the plate, saved multiple free-90’s in game action with comfortability getting around the ball while creating soft shields on either side of the plate. C - 74 … Showcased the ability to handle a second position at the next level if need be, the OF played with high energy and fluidity defensively consistently getting downhill through the fielding window on balls in front of him. Could track down the ball in the gaps with ease for his pitchers when hit in the air, moving well laterally and featuring a quick first step to either side. Fielded the ball off the left side of his body and the arm played with whip through a high ¾ arm-slot. OF - 84 mph

3/01/20

Physical 5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and uses a toe-tap stride to begin. Showcased balance and rhythm throughout with an ability to create consistent back spin. Registered a bat exit velocity of 88 mph and ran a 6.81 60-yard dash. Showed above average 75 mph arm strength out of the crouch with pop times of 1.98-2.05. Receiving and blocking skills are still in development, but the athleticism is there to be a highly recruited backstop in the class.

3/24/19

5-foot-8, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short, leg-hang stride. Demonstrated a feel for the barrel with an ability to create backspin. Registered a bat exit velocity of 81 mph and ran a 7.18 60-yard dash. Showed sound defensive techniques with pop times of 2.07-2.20 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch.

1/14/18

Defensively, shows soft, quiet glove hand in framing. A soft wall is presented in blocking with good lateral agility and an advanced understanding of importance of upper body angle for young player. Footwork is advanced for age while recording POP time of 2.40.

Offensively, swing is initiated from a slightly closed set up with leg kick and stride staying closed. Hands start low and stay low in load leading to reduced separation. There is solid weight shift and hip turn for young player. The stride foot lands excessively open leading to early hip rotation and intermittent balance issue.
