Penn State commit, one of the top athletes in the state with upside left to the frame standing at a lean 6-foot-3 frame. Bauerschmidt got the ball to start against Oak Creek and put together another strong outing in front of our staff, striking out 12 across 6.2 innings, walking one while surrendering six hits. Living in the zone in the zone throughout while showing growing feel for three pitches. The fastball 88-91 mph with life out of the hand and thrown constantly in the zone, pairing his swing and miss slider off of it while throwing it in any count. The changeup has made strides throughout the season, sitting 80-85 and looking like a usable third option, especially to opposite handed batters.

Penn State recruit, currently ranked No. 4 in the state. Premier athlete, standing at 6-foot-3, 178 pounds with added physical strength. Started the game on the mound with multiple MLB scouts in attendance, struck out six across four innings, diving up six hits and two earned runs. Despite the statline, this was the best our staff had seen Bauerschmidt to date with a near 70% strike rate. The fastball cruised in the low-90s throughout the outing, maintaining velocity late, while touching 93 mph in the first inning. The breaking ball stands out, 79-82 mph with sharp two-plane break and unwavering confidence in the offering, inducing multiple swings-and-misses in and out of the zone. Rounding off his arsenal was a 88-89 mph sinker that he used exclusively against left-handed hitters, while flashing both a mid-80s cutter and low-80s changeup.

Delivery: Up-tempo, medium leg-lift into balance point, holds back knee bend down the mound with an in-line stride, athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH. Long/loose arm swing, high 3/4 release, clear arm-speed out front.
FB: T92, 89-91 mph. Life and ride through the zone with arm-side action, kept in the lower third of the zone. T2363, 2278 average rpm.
SL: 76-78 mph. Thrown with fastball intent, above-average spin with short 10/4 shape. T2543, 2451 average rpm.
CH: 82-84 mph. Thrown with arm-speed, plays with some tilt and fade to the arm-side, kept in the lower part of the zone. T2066, 1979 average rpm.

Built at a lean 6-foot-2, 161-pounds, Bauerschmidt is a simple and athletic mover on the bump, pairing it with a quick arm that produced the day’s highest velocities. He sat in the 89-91 mph range and he reared back for a 91.7 mph max on a hard running fastball that averaged 15.5” of horizontal movement. His slider, which averaged 2,451 RPM, played with tight 10/4 break and was thrown with fastball intent. Rounding out his three-pitch mix was a changeup that was thrown with intent, featuring tilt/fade and he was able to consistently throw in the lower part of the zone. While his ‘pen was impressive in its own right, there is still a considerable amount of upside there, and it is safe to say that he is just scratching the surface of what his ceiling on the bump could ultimately be.

RHP Ethan Bauerschmidt (Tremper, 2025; Penn State commit) showed why he is a name to know going forward. The 6-foot-3, 178-pound right-handed hurler battled through bloop hits that affected his stat line, but for the majority of the game we were watching Bauerschmidt release from a high ¾ arm slot at 86-89 mph. He was also not shy to pitch backwards with his sharp 11/5 slider at 73-75 mph. LHH and RHH seemed to have a tough time finding a plan to deal with the slider that Bauerschmidt possesses.

Listed at a long 6-foot-3, 178-pounds, Bauershmidt sat in the mid-80s during his outing, with his hardest fastball coming in at 87 mph from an easy and controlled delivery. His breaking ball was also noteworthy, as he showed the ability to land the 2,500 RPM breaking ball in the zone, while also throwing it outside for whiffs. He also flashed a deceptive, running changeup to left-handed hitters which earned a couple swings-and-misses.

 RHP/OF/MIF Ethan Bauerschmidt (Tremper, 2025) has continued to climb in rankings, currently sitting at No. 4 in the state of Wisconsin. He backed up that spot with a standout showing down in Georgia, where Bauerschmidt performed well both at the plate and on the mound. In an athletic and fast-twitch frame at 6-foot-2, 172-pounds, Bauerschmidt added on to the growing list of Team Wisconsin prospects who finished with a sub-seven second 60-yard dash, completing the sprint in 6.96 seconds, a personal best. A quality round of BP, presenting a short and powerful swing, translated right away to live action, where Bauerschmidt went 2-for-3 in Game One. He was electric on the mound as well, producing some of the best spin rates amongst the Team Wisconsin arms in a two-inning outing. While the fastball ranged in the mid-80s, topping 87.3 mph, his slider was a separator for the incoming junior. Bauerschmidt spun it at an 2,358 RPM per pitch, maxing out at a mature 2,559 RPM. The pitch earned swings and misses, and was his strongest during his appearance on Friday, paired with a fastball-like changeup. All aspects of his game, in addition to his dominant two years on Kenosha Tremper’s varsity program, makes Bauerschmidt, a super-utility athlete, one of the most exciting prospects to follow throughout the second half of his prep career.

PBR Future Games: OF/MIF/RHP Ethan Bauerschmidt (Tremper, 2025) has been one of the top performers at the high school level for his age group over the past two years, and now enters Georgia as the No. 4 ranked prospect in Wisconsin’s 2025 class. As a two-way prospect, Bauerschmidt showed well as a position player and with the bat in his showcase session on Wednesday afternoon. Standing at a wiry 6-foot-2, 172-pound frame, Bauerschmidt previously presented a live arm in front of our staff, reaching a quick 91 mph from across the infield in the winter. The super-utility athlete was once again smooth on the infield in Georgia, as he has manned outfield positions in the past and will take the mound this weekend too. At the plate, the right-handed batter was consistent in his approach, beginning in an open stance with a medium leg lift, allowing himself to get into his lower half. Similar to the other prospects, Bauerschmidt showcased quality speed in his showcase, running a personal best 6.96-second 60-yard dash to cap off an impressive showing.

Uncommitted. Bauerschmidt helped the Trojans go 4-0 on the week where he had big moments both at the plate and on the mound. At the plate Bauerschmidt went 5-for-14 including two triples. On the mound Bauerschmidt came on in relief in three games throughout the week tossing 4.2 innings striking out nine batters and recording two saves, one against Kenosha Bradford, the other against Burlington. 

Bauerschmidt came away an obvious winner from Sunday’s event on both sides of the ball. On the mound, the right-hander sat right at 88-90 mph throughout the duration of his ‘pen with finish and life through the zone (16.2” avg. IVB; T19.2” IVB). His slider looks to be a potential out-pitch, spinning routinely over 2,500 RPM at 73-75 mph with depth and feel for the zone. His final offering was a slight running changeup thrown with fastball intent, 80-82 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter stays short to the ball with quick hands and feel for the barrel - working the ball to the whole field with easy jump off the bat (T92.6 mph EV; 336’ max distance). His defensive round was also one to make note of, moving well to both sides of his glove to pair with athletic actions and soft hands. His aforementioned arm-strength easily translates over to the infield, reaching up to 91 mph with above-average arm-speed and accurate throws. Also a 7.03 runner in the 60.

He ran a 7.14 at the start of the day, and his foot speed and athleticism translated seamlessly onto the infield, where he showcased efficient defensive actions and throws that flashed carry across for his age. A right-handed hitter, Bauerschmidt has a short swing that created some violence at impact, especially for his thin build that only projects to connect for more authoritative contact as he gains strength.

Swing especially projects; tall/balanced base, hands set low, quiet/calm pre-pitch, open stance. Soft, smooth load, strides to even, hangs to sync timing, quiet and simple swing. Short, easy path to the zone, barrel stays long through it; whippy swing with upside as he adds muscle.
