Top-10 Profiles of 2019: No. 10 Cam Collier

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

We'll be spending the rest of the month detailing the players who earned the most clicks to their profiles throughout 2019 ending with the state's most-viewed profile of the year, set to be released on Dec. 31. Today marks the start of our countdown of the top-10 most-viewed profiles of 2019, starting with 2023 INF/RHP Cam Collier (Mount Paran; Louisville commit).

Ranked at No. 9 overall nationally, and No. 2 in the state, Collier is one of the top prospects in the state, and the entire country. Collier burst onto the scene last winter as an eighth grader in Illinois at a Future Prospects Showcase. Already a physical 6-foot, 190-pounds Collier stood out among his peers for his sheer size, but what was even more impressive, was how he used his extra large frame to out perform every prospect in attendance.

Collier is presently a mid-80s arm on the mound and across the infield, with even more in the tank as he continues to add muscle and mass to his frame. His arm strength and loose actions already set him apart from the rest of the class, however Collier has another tool up his sleeve that is eye opening, his left-handed bat. With advanced strength throughout his body, Collier hammers baseballs to all fields and profiles to be a power bat to fear for the next four years and beyond. All of his tools coupled together, create a prospect who will be a dominant force on the mound and at the plate.

Scouting Report

9/27/19

Louisville commit, continues to be a consistent performer this fall for MGBA. About as physical as it gets for a member of the Class of 2023 currently, stands 6-foot, 190-pounds, thick frame with strength throughout and much more to come. Hits everything hard from the left-side of the plate with loose hands, barrel works mostly level as he peppered the right-side of the field all weekend at the PBR Cup.

9/18/19

The Louisville commit showed why he is one of the top 2023 two-way players in the country over the weekend. At 6-foot, 190 pounds, the thick, physical Collier displayed power and consistency everywhere on the field. Uses a waggle rhythm load with hands, has impressive hand speed and barrel whip. Easy power as Collier wore out the right-center gap all tournament. Showed a good approach and strike-zone awareness; rarely chased pitches and battled very well with two strikes. Situational hitter. On the mound, has advanced arm strength with easy effort. FB sat 82-84,T85. Did not show off-speed very much as he challenged predominantly with FB. #2 ranked player in Georgia 2023 Class.

7/04/19

Verbally committed to Louisville.

6/02/19

The big-bodied 6-foot righty was sitting at an easy 80-82 mph, and touched 83 mph in his day of work from the rubber. He also operates as the team’s starting shortstop when he’s not on the mound and is a natural with the glove, and obviously has the arm strength to play on the left side of the infield.
