Illinois Senior Games: Infielder Analysis
October 28, 2020
On Aug. 11, the PBR Illinois team gathered once again at the end of the summer to host this annual uncommitted event, the Senior Games. The summer’s sixth annual uncommitted senior showcase invited select members of the state’s 2021 class to Ozinga Field in Crestwood to participate in a workout and simulated gameplay, and it was streamed digitally in an effort to showcase these players to a larger audience.
In the days following this event, our team produced immediate analysis inside of our Quick Hits post, and published insight gathered by TrackMan and Blast Motion technologies inside of this Statistical Analysis. On Monday, we began our position-by-position breakdown with the event’s catchers, which led us to the outfielders yesterday, and we’re onto the infielders today.
Shortly after this event, the event’s top-ranked infielder, Andrew Jimenez (St. Charles North), committed to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Firstly, he makes an immediate impression for his broad, muscular stature, and he still turned in the fastest 60-yard dash time of the showcase. He also recorded some of the event’s best batted-ball data, and he showed it off in-game, too.
3B Giacomo Fanizza (Lake Park) is among the more intriguing, tooled-up uncommitted prospects in the state’s senior class. Statistically, Fanizza’s physicality shows itself best from the right-handed batter’s box, where he unleashes premium bat and hand speed that produces noteworthy power potential. He averaged the hardest and some of the farthest contact during batting practice at this event.
Check out the rest of these scouting reports, as there are still a number of interesting, uncommitted players among them.
