This Saturday, Feb. 4th, the PBR Wisconsin team is hosting the Kenosha Preseason ID at Puma Baseball Academy within the Fielders Choice Training Facility in Kenosha, Wis. This is an open event for all high school classes (2023-26), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT HISTORY

We've been hosting this event for the past 6 years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the PBR Future Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2021, there are already nine commitments among them.

From last years event, RHP Matthew Schulz (Westosha Central, 2023; Wisconsin-La Crosse commit) made for a good look in his PBR event debut. During his 'pen the long right-hander sat in the low-to-mid 80s with his fastball and was able to spin in a tighly spun slider for strikes, too. Schulz would then go on to earn an invite to our Top Prospect Games event which featured some of the top uncommitted talent the Badger State had to offer at the time, and he would commit to Wisconsin-La Crosse shortly after.

RHP Hayden Christansen (Wilmot Union, 2023; Wisconsin-La Crosse commit) had a similar path to the aformentioned Schulz as he too earned an invite to July's Top Prospect Games after a handful of quality looks throughout the year, including at the this same event last year.

We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.

2023 ROSTER

This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past.

RHP/OF Marshall Loch (Union Grove, 2024) is set to attend Saturday's event and he is certainly someone our staff is excited to get an updated look at. While Loch has not attended an event in roughly two years, our staff still got a handful of quality two-way looks at him during our summer tournaments, which earned him a No. 35 spot in our state's '24 rankings board as a result. On the mound he has been up to 84 mph in our looks and is complemented by a breaking ball with swing-and-miss potential. Offensively, we started to see the gains he made to his quick right-handed swing during the summer and after a offseason of training, we could see even louder contact from this uncomitted prospect.

Marshall Loch (7/1/22)

Teammate of the aforementioned Loch, RHP/OF Landon Dessart (Union Grove, 2024) is also on the roster for Saturday's event. This summer Dessart impressed across a couple of looks while showcasing his two-way potential as a prospect. On the mound, Dessart throw a downhill fastball in the mid-80s and is able to spin in a quality breaking ball that plays well off of the fastball. Offensively, he caught multiple barrels across our looks in the summer against formidable competition. Much like Loch, we haven't got the chance to see Dessart in a showcase setting in quite some time and we are excited to see the gains he has made after a full offseason of training.

Landon Dessart (7/3/22)

Despite going to high school in Illinois, RHP/OF Jack Olson (Antioch (IL), 2024) is sort of becoming a staple at this event over the past couple of years and he set to make another appearance in Kenosha this year. Last year Olson impressed with his smooth and repeatable left-handed swing that created a max EV up to 96.2 mph. On the mound, he is a smooth and athletic mover downhil which helped him reach highs of 84.2 mph and after this full offseason of gains, he is set to show them off at Saturday's showcase.

OF/LHP Treyton Schumacher (Culver Academy, 2025) is an athletic member of the state's '25 class that will be in attendance on Saturday. Schumacher first impressed our staff this summer at the Underclass Open which earned him a No. 43 spot in the state's sophomore class. During the summer, Schumacher's athletisicm definitely caught our staff's attention and we saw some high-upside inside his 6-foot, 178-pound frame. Now after a period of time in between looks, we are excited to see how Schumacher has developed as a prospect.

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.
