Libertyville Preseason I.D.: Infield Analysis
April 28, 2020
On Sunday, February 23, the PBR Illinois team hosted its first-ever Libertyville Preseason I.D. showcase at the Libertyville Sports Complex where over 70 prospects participated in this open event.
Shortly after the event’s conclusion we posted an early analysis of the event with our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis pieces. We jump started our position-by-position breakdown by taking a dive into the catchers.
Today we continue the analysis with a look at the infielders in attendance.
2022 Casey Hintz (St. Viator) comes away as the biggest winner at his first-ever PBR event. Hintz is a natural middle infield defender who plays light on his feet with soft confident hands and plenty of arm to stick on the left-side of the diamond. Offensively, he has a simple, repeatable swing with upside.
Behind Hintz is SS Tyler Conklin (Kaneland, 2021). Conklin has emerged over the winter as a high-follow 2021, especially on the mound but he showed big tools as a position player at Libertyville as well. Conklin ran a 7.13 was 94 mph across the infield and registered a 96 mph exit velocity off a tee.
Rounding out the top three is 1B Nicholas Shiu (Warren, 2021). Shiu has a strong frame, took one of the most consistent rounds of BP on the day and is steady around the first base bag.
Read on below for reports on all of the infielders from the event.
