McHenry Advances Behind Bobby Miller's Dominant Start

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL- In the second semifinal of the Prairie Ridge 4A Regional McHenry defeated Crystal Lake South 5-1 on Thursday afternoon behind a complete game three hitter from Bobby Miller.

Miller, a Louisville commit, was in control from the beginning working mostly with his fastball was up to 89 mph early on in the game, and still hitting 87 mph in the seventh inning. The only run he allowed came in the sixth inning after Garrett Bright walked with one out and moved up to third on a pickoff attempt that was thrown into right field. Bright came around to score on an RBI ground out by Michael Avella. In seven inning of work Miller allowed just three hits while striking out eight in the dominant outing. 

McHenry jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Ryan Grannemann reached on an error to lead off the inning and came around to score on a towering home run from Dylan Weston to dead center field.

In the third inning Jack Glosson and Michael Borst singled to lead off the inning and were promptly balked into scoring position. Both came around to score on RBI groundouts from Bobby Miller and Ryan Grannemann giving the Warriors a 4-0 lead. McHenry added another run in the sixth when Matthew Nagel came around to score on a pickoff attempt thrown into right field.

McHenry improves to 22-13 on the season and moves on to play Prairie Ridge for the Regional Championship on Saturday at 1 PM. Crystal Lake South finishes the season with a record of 24-9.
