The Underclass Games took place on Monday, July 23th at University of Illinois-Chicago’s Curtis Granderson Stadium. The event, a premier destination for rising sophomores across Illinois and Wisconsin, had more than 60 players in attendance.
The event was as deep as it has ever been with talent and a number of guys elevated their stock. Many of the players listed below should be high-follows moving forward. Below we breakdown the top statistical performances from the event.

Fleet-footed switch-hitting outfielder Q Phillips (Marquette, WI) set the bar in home to first times, running a speedy 4.29 down the line. Not far behind Phillips, though, were the likes of Ryan St. Ledger (Edwards County, IL) and Carson Shepard (Sun Prairie, WI) at 4.36
A number of pitchers either put themselves on the map or significantly raised their stock on this day. Kyle Walter (Minooka, IL), Nicholas Demarco (St. Charles North, IL), and Brennyn Cutts (Toledo-Cumberland, IL) all showed a significant amount of arm strength for their age by topping out at 86. It should come as no surprise if Mason Ruh (Wisconsin Lutheran, WI), Ben Hess (Charleston, IL), Adam Dowler (Oswego East, IL) and company join them in the future.
Four prospects managed to break the 90-mph exit velocity barrier, led by the 6-foot-3, 215-pound 1B Aidan Krupp (Oak Park-River Forest, IL) at 96 mph. Taking a cue from Krupp were Mason Roehr (Granite City, IL), Liam Moreno (Sun Prairie, WI) and Anthony Vivian (Dodgeville, WI) who put up 94, 92, and 90 mph, respectively.
Although not as physically mature as his peers, Austin Bestul (Elkhorn, WI) held his own and then some on the infield by recording an event best 84 mph across the infield. Trailing Bestul, and already on our leaderboards, was Nicholas Demarco (St. Charles North, IL) at 83.
The outfield velocity leaderboard has no clear-cut winner as the entire top 5 of Liam Stumpf (Mineral Point, WI), Ryan St. Ledger (Edwards County, IL), Cameron Hill (Kenwood, IL), Tanner Marsh (Mondovi, WI) and Julian Jimenez (Romeoville, IL) come in tied at 84 mph.
Leading they way with adavnced catch and throw skill sets are Josh Caron (Sun Prairie, WI) and Camden Janik (Wauconda, IL). Caron posted an event best 2.04 pop time, while Janik came in just behind at 2.08. Brian Rapanan (Warren, IL), Joey Spence (West Bend East, WI) and Mason Roehr (Granite City, IL) are all right there, putting up best times of 2.11 and 2.12.
Janik see's his name pop up at the top of the catcher velocity leaderboard. Much of the credit for his top pop times must go to his high level arm strength behind the dish. Despite not putting up top pop time numbers, Drew Ezard (Jacksonville, IL) and Ben Hartl (Springfield, IL) showed off their powerful arms.
