Underclass Invitational: Outfield Analysis
April 6, 2020
The Underclass Invitational is one of Illinois’ most highly anticipated events on the PBR Illinois showcase calendar. The invitation-only event for the state’s top 2022 and 2023 prospects was held on Feb. 16, at The MAX in McCook, Ill. Over 110 of Illinois’ best freshman and sophomores represented themselves at the sold-out event.
As expected, this was an absolutely loaded event that yielded to us a brand new crop of underclass talent to follow as they continue maturing and developing at the high school level. Soon following the event we released early analysis with our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis.
Today we continue the roll-out of our position-by-position breakdown of the event, by taking a look at the 21 outfielders in attendance.
Tennessee commit, OF Alex Stanwich (Lincoln-Way East, 2022) has been a household name for awhile but he continues to get better every time we see him and solidified once again that he is one of the top sophomores in the country. Stanwich has an extremely rare, high-level combination of tools and features some of the easiest and best raw power in the class.
Behind Stanwich was another toolsy 2022 prospect, OF Angelo Luna (St. Laurence; uncommitted), who keeps getting better every time we see him. Luna is a 6.72 runner, has a repeatable quick swing and the actions in the outfield to play all three spots.
Read on below for reports on all of the outfielders from the event.
