On Wednesday, August 5, Prep Baseball Report-Kansas held the Class of 2016 Games at Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia.  Nearly 100 uncommitted players in the 2016 class from Kansas and Missouri attended. 

Player profiles have been update with times, velocities and videos.  Below is a look at the outfielders from the event.  In the days to come, we will break down the pitchers. Outfielders are listed in alphabetical order.  Players rankings will be updated in weeks to come.

Outfielders

Nolan Beets, OF, Gardner Edgerton, 2016
Beets is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Beets ran a 6.94, one of the fastest times for the event, and had an exit velo of 90 mph, one of top exit velos for the event.  At the plate, Beets has a simple load with no wasted movement, starting from an athletic stance, consistent solid contact during batting practice, gap-to-gap, pull power.  In game action, singled to center and doubled to left, stole second base twice.  In the outfield, 82 mph throws, one of the top for the event, high three-quarters release, attacks ball, quick release, mostly accurate throws. 

Brett Cass, OF, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, 2016
Cass is a 5-foot-8 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Cass ran a 7.27 60 and had 76 mph exit velo. Starts in balanced stance at the plate, dives with front foot, strong hands, line drive approach to opposite gap, singled in game action.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo, over-the-top release, plays behind the ball and through catch, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws. 

Trent Cotton, OF, Clearwater, 2016
Cotton is a 5-foot-11 192-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  He ran a 7.66 60 and had an exit velo of 77 mph. At the plate, starts slightly open, minimal load, level path to extension, solid contact during batting practice, hands work inside ball, gap-to-gap approach.  Defensively, quick over the top release, 72 mph positional velo, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws. 

Seth Davis, OF, Maize South, 2016
Davis is a 5-foot-9 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Davis ran a 7.15 60 and had an exit velo of 84 mph.  During batting practice, controlled load and leg lift, loose hands, middle approach, smooth rhythm, feel for the barrel, singled and showed plate discipline in game action. In the outfield, throws left, high three-quarters release, works behind ball, catches in position to throw, 76 mph positional velo, loose arm action, mostly accurate throws.

Matthew Drummond, OF, Shawnee Mission Northwest, 2016
Drummond is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.   He ran a 6.97 60, one of the fastest times for the event, and posted an 86 mph exit velo.  Good round of batting practice, solid contact using whole field, smooth load, loose hands, level path, went 3-fo-3 in game action, doubled to left, singled to center and right.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, fluid exchange, quick feet, high three-quarters.

Brock Gilliam, OF, Basehor –Linwood, 2016
Gilliam is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Gilliam ran a 7.02 60 and had an exit velo of 82 mph.  Thin and open stance, showed feel for the barrel, maintains barrel, stays inside ball, works middle of field.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velo, high-three quarters arm slot, plays through catch, quick exchange, fluid footwork, accurate, throws have carry

Clayton Hale, OF, Shawnee Mission Northwest, 2016
Hale is a 5-foot-10 190-poumd left-handed hitting outfielder.  Hale posted an 87 mph exit velo, one of top exit velos for the event, and ran a 7.30 60. At the plate, thin stance, attacks ball with linear move, aggressive hands, line drives to middle of field during batting practice, singled to center in game action, played with energy.  In the outfield, throws right, high three quarters release, catches ball in in position to throw, clean transfer, 81 mph positional velo.   

Andrew Halverson, OF, Gardner Edgerton, 2016
Halverson is a 5-foot-11 185-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  Halverson ran a 6.84 60, one of the fastest times for the event, and had a 90 mph exit velo, one of top LHH exit velos on the day.  Balanced set-up at the plate, load into back leg, short stride, quick hand, flat bat path, gap-to-gap extension, singled twice in in game action, aggressive base runner. In the outfield, 79 mph, quick feet, momentum towards target, over-the-top release, accurate throws.

Dylan Hamilton, OF, Remington, 2016
Hamilton is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. He ran a 7.09 60 and had an exit velo of 84 mph. Open stance at the plate, short stride to square, balanced swing, feel for the barrel, middle to opposite field approach. In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo, over-the-top release, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Jared Haynes, OF, Haysville Campus, 2016
Haynes is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Haynes ran a 7.34 60 and has an exit velo of 87 mph.  Offensively, tall/balanced set up, open stance, short stride, level to extension, showed power to pull side, gap-to-gap approach.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo, loose arm action, over-the-top release, momentum through catch, fluid footwork, clean exchange, throws downhill, accurate throws with carry.

AJ Knight, OF, Mill Valley, 2016
Knight is a 5-foot-10 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  Knight ran a 7.41 60 with an 81 mph exit velo.  At the plate, starts in wide stance, early front foot, minimal movement pre-swing, quick hands, level path, gap-to-gap approach.  In the outfield, quick footwork, high-three quarters release, momentum towards target, quick crow hop, throws downhill, mostly accurate throws.

Jack Leyden, OF, Bishop Carroll, 2016
Leynden is a 5-foot-11 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  Leynden runs a 7.22 60 with a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, athletic set-up, stride foot and hand separate to load, loose hands, level path to extension, doubled to right field in game action.  In the outfield, athletic footwork, works behind ball, plays through catch, quick release, high three-quarters, mostly accurate throws, 79 mph positional velo.

Daonte Lowery, OF, Lawrence, 2016
Lowery is a 6-foot 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  He ran a 7.00 60 and had an exit velo of  78 mph.  Athletic set-up at the plate, smooth pre-swing load, no wasted movement, short stride, level path through contact, worked the middle of field during batting practice, aggressive base runner, good instincts.  In the outfield, 81 mph positional velo, high three-quarters release, quick crow hop, clean exchange, plays through the ball, accurate throws.

Marshall McCarl, OF, Blue Valley, 2016
McCarl is a 5-foot-10 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. McCarl has an 81 mph exit velo, and runs a 7.37 60.  Starts with slightly open stance, level path, gap-to-gap approach.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velo, high three-quarters release, quick footwork, clean exchange, made all plays cleanly, mostly accurate throws.

Gage McCutcheon, OF, Olathe East, 2016
McCutcheon is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  McCutcheon runs a 7.19 60 and has an exit velo of 86 mph.  Smooth pre-swing load at the plate, leg kick, consistent line drives to the middle of the field during batting practice, quick hands. In the outfield, posted an 85 mph positional velo, top outfield velo of the event, athletic, quick/loose arm action, over the top release, quick catch and throw, plays through the ball, throws have carry. 

Mason McDow, OF, Paola, 2016
McDow is a 6-foot-7 220-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  McDow has an exit velo of 88 mph and runs a 7.25 60.  Starts in athletic position at the plate, minimal load, level path, gap-to-gap approach, fluid rhythm.  In the outfield, 81 mph positional velo, loose high three-quarters release, fluid footwork, clean transfer, somewhat accurate throws.

Brady Michel, OF, Great Bend, 2016
Michel is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Michel has an exit velo of 88 mph.  Fluid pre-swing rhythm, square stride, accelerated hands with level path, middle approach, balanced through swing.  Singled and doubled to center field during game action.  In the outfield, 79 mph throws, over-the-top release, loose arm action, works behind ball and through catch, quick transfer. 

Jack Nielsen, OF, Mill Valley, 2016
Nielsen is a 6-foot 200-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Nielsen runs a 7.16 60 and has an exit velo of 87 mph.  Balanced set-up at plate, pre-swing rhythm in lower half, middle approach, maintains barrel, level to extension, gap-to-gap approach, doubled to centerfield and singled to left during game action.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velo, one of the best for the event, high three-quarters release, quick feet, fluid transfer.

Blain Ohlmeier, OF, Paola, 2016
Ohlmeier is a 5-foot-8 140-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  He has an exit velo of 70 mph.  Starts in a wide base at the plate, starts open, strides closed, used the whole field during batting practice, mostly opposite field line drives, singled in game action.  During defensive evaluations, 81 mph positional velo, works behind ball, plays through catch, fluid footwork, clean exchange, throws have carry, accurate.

Tanner Padgett, OF, Wichita Heights, 2016
Padgett is a 6-foot-5 220-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Padgett ran a 6.91 60, one of fastest times for the event, and has an exit velo of 92 mph, top exit velo of event.  Tall/thin stance, smooth load, quick bat speed, physical hitter, solid contact gap-to-gap during batting practice, singled during game action.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, plays through the ball, quick transfer and release, mostly accurate throws.

Kurt Paldino, OF, Olathe East, 2016
Paldino is a 6-foot-2 195-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  Paldino ran a 7.08 60 and has an exit velo of 81 mph.  At the plate, loads hands, not stride, toe tap, power to pull side, upper half dominate, solid contact to center on fly out to center field during game.  Defensively, 71 mph positional velo, over-the-top release, clean exchange, quick release, momentum towards target, throws have carry, mostly accurate. 

Connor Patterson, OF, Campus, 2016
Patterson is a 5-foot-11 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  Patterson ran a 6.89 60, one of the fastest times for the event, and has an exit velo of 78 mph. At the plate, balanced set up, minimal pre-swing movement, strong hands, maintains barrel, impressive during game action hitting a pair of doubles.  In the outfield, 78 mph throws, high three-quarters release, quick feet, works behind ball plays through catch, quick release, mostly accurate throws, showed as solid defender in game action.

Alex Renfrew, OF, Shawnee Mission South, 2016
Renferew is a 6-foot 173-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a 7.09 60 and an 85 mph exit velo.  At the plate, starts in open stance, small stride, line drives to the middle of the cage during batting practice, balanced swing, singled to left in game action.  During defensive evaluations, throws left, 75 mph positional velo, catches ball with momentum towards target, high three-quarters release, throws ball on line.

Landis Rowden, OF, Wamego, 2016
Rowden is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Rowden ran a 7.53 60 and posted an exit velo of 75 mph.  Athletic stance, simple load, no wasted movement, line drive to middle of field, gap-to-gap approach, balanced swing. In the outfield, 81 mph positional velo, loose high three-quarters release, quick footwork, clean exchange, quick release, throws ball on a line downhill, mostly accurate throws. 

Tyler Rudisill, OF, Andover, 2016
Rudisill is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Rudisill ran a 6.84 60, one of the fastest times for the event, and had an exit velo of 82 mph.  Minimal pre-swing movement at the plate, upper half dominate, level swing path, gap-to-gap approach, singled to right and stole second base in game action.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, over-the-top release, jump-turn to work behind ball, quick footwork, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Ryan Simons, OF, Shawnee Mission Northwest, 2016
Simons is a 6-foot-1 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  Simons runs a 6.72 60, fastest time for the event, and has an exit velo of 77 mph.  Starts in wide stance at the plate, pick foot up and sets it down to load, minimal hand movement pre-swing, gap-to-gap approach, sac bunt and single during game action.  In the outfield, crow hop, high three-quarters release, plays through catch, momentum towards target, clean exchange, quick release, throw ball on a line, accurate throws, 84 mph positional velo, one of the best of the event.

Kyle Spriggs, OF, Blue Valley, 2016
Spriggs is a 6-foot 200-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Spriggs runs a 7.59 60 and had an 82 mph exit velo.  Atthletic set-up at the plate, smooth load into back leg, short stride, level path, line drives gap-to-gap during batting practice. During defensive evals, 82 mph positional velo, one of the top for the event, over-the-top release, fluid footwork, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws with carry. Showed good arm throwing to bases in game action.

Hunter Swift, OF, Staley (MO), 2016
Swift is a 5-foot-8 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Swift ran a 7.34 60 and had an exit velo of 87 mph, one of top LHH exit velos on the day.  Aggressive hitter, open stance, holds hands high pre-swing, level path, quick bat speed, power to pull side, singled in game action.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velo, one of top outfield velos for the event, works behind ball, plays through catch, quick catch and throw, high three-quarters release, throws on a line with carry to the bag. 

Brandon Teter, OF, Maize, 2016
Teter is a 6-foot-4 184-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Teter ran a 7.02 60 and had an exit velo of 81 mph.  At the plate, starts in athletic position, linear load into back side, level path to extension, gap-to-gap line drives during batting practice, singled to center and had infield single in game action.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velo, high three-quarters release, clean exchange, quick release, mostly accurate throws. 

Nate Vossman, OF, Blue Valley Northwest, 2016
Vossman is a left-handed hitting 6-foot-1 200-pound outfielder.  Vossman ran a 7.28 60 and an exit velo of 90 mph, one of top LHH exit velos for the event.  Vossman is a physical hitter with plus-power to pull gap, thin/open stance, aggressive to ball, fast bat speed, consistent solid contact during batting practice, repeats swing, towering home run to right field in game action.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velo, one of top outfield velos for the event, over-the-top release, clean exchange, fluid footwork, momentum towards target, plays through catch, throws ball on a line, accurate throws with carry.
