Top Prospect Games - MOKAN: 2020 Infielders

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg on August 12.  Over sixty players attended in the 2020-2019 class. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the 2019 Outfielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

2020 Infielders

Michael Allen 1B / LHP / Park Hill South , MO / 2020 Allen is a long limbed and lean 6-foot 162-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.44 60 and a 4.59 home to first.  He has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, in line stride, no waisted movement, body stays under control, hands works inside the ball, middle to opposite field line drives. On the infield, 74 mph positional velo, over the top release, fluid footwork to the ball with clean exchange, gains ground with feet after the catch.

PJ Alvarez 3B / OF / Olathe West, KS / 2020 Alvarez is a 6-foot 147-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.51 60 and a 4.75 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, wide set in base, balanced, controlled leg lift, loads against back side, minimal hand movement, loose hands, level bath path, mostly middle to pull side line drives.  On the infield, high three quarters release, 77 mph positional velocity, quick transfer, gains momentum with footwork through the catch, actuate throws, athletic build.

Will Bailey RHP / 3B / Kickapoo, MO / 2020 Bailey is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.54 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, aggressive leg kick, quick bat speed, level plane through the zone.  On the infield, 80 mph positional velocity, over the top release, fields ball in athletic position, gains ground with footwork to throw after the catch, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws with carry, long lean frame with projection.

Max Bates LHP / 1B / Hickman , MO / 2020 Bates is a 5-foot-9 165-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 8.19 60 and a 4.78 home to first.  He has a 74 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, short stride, minimal pre swing rhythm and load, hands control be barrel, level path, gap to gap approach, simple and repeatable.  On the infield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, fluid footwork, clean exchange, throws are on line and mostly accurate

Nathan Beaton 2B / RHP / Vianney, MO / 2020 Beaton is a 6-foot-3 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.56 60 and a 4.90 home to first.  He has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, shifts to back side, toe tap, in line stride, minimal hand load, loose and quick hands, level through the zone, middle to pull side contact.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velocity, quick to the ball with footwork, quick catch and throw, loose high three quarters arm slot, long and lean frame with projectable increases in size and velo down the road.

Marshall Brown RHP / 1B / Kennett, MO / 2020 Brown is a well built 6-foot-4 195-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 8.47 60 and a 5.26 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with most of his weight loaded in back side, some pre-pitch rhythm in hands, short stride, some hand load, middle of the field line drives.  On the infield, 72 mph positional velocity, loose high three quarters arm slot, fluid actions, soft hands, clean exchange, gathers feet and gains ground after the catch, mostly accurate throws.

Kolin Demel SS / RHP / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2020 Demel is an athletically built 6-foot 7.59 right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.59 60 and a 4.50 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load to back side with acceleration to ball, loose hands, quick bat speed, feel for the barrel, level path, middle to pull side line drives, body stays under control, flashes power. On the infield, 84 mph positional velocity, over the top release, quick catch and throw, quick to the ball with footwork, clean exchange, quick release, mostly accurate throws.

Ian Enyeart 2B / SS / Park Hill South, MO / 2020 Enyeart is a 5-foot-4 110-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.48 60 and a 5.02 home to first.  He has a 71 mph exit velocity. Dylan Epke 3B / RHP / Maize South, KS / 2020 Epke is a 5-foot-11 165-pound left-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 8.19 60 and a 4.62 home to first.  He has a 76 mph exit velocity. Gage Goss RHP / 3B / Springfield Catholic, MO / 2020 Goss is a well built 6-foot1 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.91 60 and a 4.50 home to first.  He has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load to back side, short in line stride, accelerates hands with loose barrel whip, occasional power, repeats swing.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, gains ground with feet after the catch, smooth footwork to the ball, mostly accurate throws.

Tyler Kotsis SS / RHP / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2020 Kotsis is a strong 5-foot-10 195-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.35 60 and a 4.80 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. Caleb Mabe C / 3B / Union, MO / 2020 Mabe is a well built 6-foot2 205-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He has ran a 7.76 60 and a 4.85 home to fist.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open and tall, sits in back leg to load, aggressive acceleration through the zone with hands, loose and quick hands, level path, stays on ball after contact, gap to gap line drives, power to pull gap.  On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, athletic footwork, smooth actions to the ball, clean exchange, feet create momentum through the catch, mostly accurate throws.

Jacob Merithew RHP / SS / Fort Osage, MO / 2020 Merithew is a lean 6-foot-2 146-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.16 60 and a 4.88 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. Andrew Schmidtlein 3B / SS / Hayden , KS / 2020 Schmidtlein is a sturdy 5-foot-9 210-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.77 60 and a 4.47 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. Will Thompson SS / RHP / St Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020 Thompson is an athletically built 5-foot-11 165-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.60 60 and a 4.59 home to first.  He has an 86 mph exit velocity. Austin Warkins 1B / 3B / Campus, KS / 2020 Warkins is a strong 6-foot 190-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.72 60 and a. 4.75 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity.
