Wichita Winter Open Showcase: Infielder Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas held the Wichita Winter Open Showcase at Hoover Field in Wichata, Kansas. Nearly fourty players participated in the 2022 to 2019 classes from around the area.
Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Infielders
Cole Askew SS / RHP / Seaman , KS / 2021Askew is an athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class out of Topeka Seaman HS. He ran a 7.52 60 and posted and exit velocity of 86 mph. During hitting evaluations, Askew shows rhythm with hands, barrel control, gets the most out of his strong frame with a big swing, gets extension and hard contact with middle to pull side pop. Defensively, Askew shows good actions, momentum towards first base, clean three-quarter arm action, strong arm with a positional velo of 82 mph, very accurate throws. |
Dominic Bainter 1B / OF / Hays , KS / 2021Bainter is an athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound, left-handed hitting corner infield prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.32 60 and posted an exit velocity of 81 mph. During hitting evaluations, Bainter starts relaxed with an open stance, in line stride, loose hands, showed feel for the barrel during round, rhythm with hands, minimal dead movement, high finish with hands. On the infield, Bainter is aggressive to the baseball, fluid footwork, positional velo of 70 mph, accurate throws. |
Daniel Bebee C / SS / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 2020Bebee has a strong build and athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds. At the event he ran a 7.26 60 and posted an exit velocity of 89 mph, one of the tops recorded. During hitting evaluations, Bebee starts with an open stance, knee pinch into his load, in line stride, showed feel for the barrel, extension through the baseball, high finish with hands, pop to left field during batting practice. On the infield, Bebee showed his off his athleticism, fluid footwork, quick arm, momentum towards first base, positional velo of 84 mph, accurate throws. |
Phil Brennaman 3B / RHP / Oak Park, MO / 2020Brennaman has a strong build and solid frame at 6-foot, 180-pounds, and is a corner infielder in Missouri’s 2020 recruiting class. He ran a 7.02 60 and posted and exit velocity of 92 mph, highest at the event. During batting practice, Brennaman starts wide, small weight shift into load, rhythm with hands, feel for the barrel, quick hands, level bat path, ball jumps off barrel and showed hard contact to all fields during round. On the infield, he shows off his athleticism, momentum towards first base, quick transfer and release, clean quick arm action, positional velo of 88 mph, mostly accurate throws. |
Bret Brownlee C / SS / Veritas Christian , KS / 2022Brownlee is a 5-foot-10, 140-pound right-handed hitting middle infield prospect in Kansas’ 2022 recruiting class. He ran a 7.78 60 and posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. During hitting evaluations, Brownlee showed contact to mostly the middle and his pull side, starts in a more upright position with a narrow stance, strides slightly across his body, compact swing, quick bat, high finish with hands. Emmett Foltz 1B / RHP / Maize South, KS / 2020Foltz is a long limbed and lanky framed 6-foot-3, 195-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. Marshall Gilstrap RHP / SS / Maize South, KS / 2022Gilstrap has a slender build at 5-foot-10 and 130 pounds. He is a right-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 7.84 60 yard dash and posted an exit velocity of 73 mph. During hitting evaluations, Gilstrap starts in an open stance, narrow and in line stride, some rhythm with hands, remains balanced throughout, showed pull contact throughout round of batting practice. Harper Kennedy 3B / RHP / Maize South , KS / 2021Kennedy is a 6-foot, 170-pound, left-handed hitting corner infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.90 60 and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. During hitting evaluations Whitfield showed the ability to hit from both sides of the plate. From the left side Whitefield is slightly across his body with his stride, balanced body, lift, high finish with hands, while from the right side he has an in line stride, quicker bat, some rhythm with hands and drove the ball to left field during batting practice. |
Kadyn Williams SS / 2B / Emporia, KS / 2021Williams is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound, switch hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.28 60 and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph from the right side and 76 mph from the left side. During hitting evaluations, Williams shows a simple and repeatable swing from the left side, leg lift into load, quick hands, level bat path, produced contact to right field. From the right side, across body with stride, quick hands, level bat path, looked to hit the ball to the middle of the field during batting practice.
