Jared Carrier
Scouting Director

On Saturday October 21st PBR-NY hosted it's final outdoor event of 2017 at the home of the the Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa-A) in Fishkill, NY. Nearly 45 uncommitted seniors took to the stage along with 27 JUCO sophomores in what was a one-stop opportunity to be seen.

Highlights

Joseph Simmonds OF / 3B / John Jay-East Fishkill, NY / 2018

All around impressive day for Simmonds; 87 from the OF, line drive BP and ran a 6.99 60.

Sammy Cuevas RHP / 3B / Morris , NY / 2018

Solid dual prospect; fast arm on the bump sitting 86-88 MPH. Slider backed up some today but we have seen it with more tilt. Bull like strength in the box showing pop to left-center.

Jeremy Abreu OF / RHP / Park East, NY / 2018

Lean outfielder with a line drive stroke; accurate arm with some carry. Frame has room for physical gains.

Lucca Ardovini OF / 1B / Our Lady of Lourdes , NY / 2018

Physical left-handed hitting/throwing OF/1B who may project better at 1B at the collegiate level. Exit velocity of 87 MPH and 80 MPH arm from the OF.

Michael Bulgia OF / Arlington, NY / 2018

Balanced, line drive approach with some lift to left center. 7.11 60 with a quick release, 79 MPH arm from the OF.

Steven Carullo C / OF / Commack, NY / 2018

Front side hitter who explodes through the ball late; quick exchange with accurate on-the-bag throws in the 2.00-2.09 range (77 MPH arm strength).

Nick Comunale RHP / 3B / Sachem East , NY / 2018

Projectable 6-foot-3 180 pound frame. 4S and 2S fastball are commanded well in the 80-82 MPH range, shows feel and control for CB and change up. Pitchability is there.

Owen Dando SS / 2B / Vestal , NY / 2018

Solid BP rounds showing some drive to both gaps. Serviceable defender with more of a 2B/3B projection at the next level.

Ryan Delorbe OF / LHP / John F. Kennedy Campus, NY / 2018

Up and coming OF who was 84 MPH from the outfield and showed and easy effort stroke in the box with some natural lift to his pull side.

James Evans III C / 1B / All Hallows, NY / 2018

Physical 6-foot-0 215 pound catcher with some raw power; will need some fine tuning behind the plate with footwork and transfer but arm strength is there at 77 MPH.

Kelvin Gutierrez OF / SS / Bathgate, NY / 2018

Wiry switch hitter who flashed some bat speed from both sides of the plate. Physical tools are there with a 82 MPH arm from the outfield and ran a 7.00 60. Intriguing athlete who can really develop in the right college setting.

Jake Hernandez 3B / RHP / Guilderland , NY / 2018

Strong right-handed hitter who had the loudest contact on the day. Drives the ball through the middle of the field and showed power in that direction as well. Serviceable at 3B but may project slightly better at 1B at the next level.

Justin Peralta 3B / Stepinac, NY / 2018

Good looking athlete at 6-foot-1 190 pounds; flashed some athleticism at 3B and explosiveness through the zone at the plate. Active actions to where he could possibly move to 2B or corner OF if needed.

Noah Edwards C / 3B / Queensbury, NY / 2018

Left-handed hitting catcher with some pull side drive; sweeps through the zone. Accurate and strong arm (76 MPH) at 2.00-2.03 with his pop times. Hidden gem of the event.

John Young OF / C / Walter Panas , NY / 2018

Another prime athlete that stays in the zone a long time at the plate. Needs a little more polish in the outfield but the tools are there.

Dylan Richards 1B / RHP / Johnson City , NY / 2018

Strong 1B who was 79-80 on the mound but can pound the left center gap at the plate.

Franklin Mundo 2B / OF / Pine Bush , NY / 2018

One of the most improved players we've witnessed in some time. Line drive stroke at the plate and 81 MPH arm from the left side with some carry. May have opened himself up to a 3B/2B projection at the next level.

Billy Moeller RHP / Mahopac , NY / 2018

Full bodied 6-foot-0 210 pound frame with a heavy 82-84 MPH fastball; mixes in a 2S with some boring action. CB featured 12-6 shape with tight spin.

Ethan Martinez OF / OF / Ossining , NY / 2018

Muscular 5-foot-11 160 pounds with some late in-the-zone acceleration. Ran a 6.95/60, 87 exit velocity and 77 MPH arm from the OF.

Nathan Poag 2B / 3B / Glens Falls , NY / 2018

Balanced, line drive approach shooting the middle of the field. Steady defender, no flash but makes the play. 2B and with improved arm, 3B projection.

Jon Minotti OF / Carmel , NY / 2018

Left-handed hitter with some high-end offensive capabilities; aggressive line drive stroke. Tracks the ball well with an accurate arm from the outfield.

James Bilcik RHP / 1B / Nanuet, NY / 2018

Athletic 6-foot-0 175 RHP with a quick arm sitting 79-81 MPH with some cut action; big 12-to-6 CB at 59-61 MPH.

Out of State Notes

2018 OF Michael Esposito (The Gunnery School, CT)
Whippy bat through the zone; 86 MPH exit velocity and ran a 7.01 60.

2018 OF/LHP Christian Cabrera (Teaneck HS, NJ)
Highly projectable frame at 6-foot-4 190 pounds. Above average arm from the OF at 88 MPH with carry to the bag. One of the more impressive batting practices, using the wood he drove the gaps and middle of the field with easy effort. New to the mound he sat 82-84 (T 85 MPH) with some late movement. Needs polish here but tools are present.
