SCOUTING REPORT
The 5-foot-9, 155-pound middle infielder stood out with a solid all-around skillset and gritty mindset. The right-handed hitter starts from a narrow, slightly open stance and initiates his swing with some lower half glide. Displayed above average feel for the barrel with a middle of the field approach. Registered a bat-exit velocity of 82 mph and ran a 6.96 60-yard dash. Showed very soft hands defensively with active feet and solid range to both sides. Demonstrated an ability to make throws from multiple arm angles with accurate 81 mph arm-strength across the diamond.
THOUGHTS ON THE FUTURE
"A well rounded all-around player with the ability for more, Thomas is a good athlete able to make plays on the run and drive the ball gap-to-gap. There is room to add strength onto a lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame which will only improve solid measurables across the board. Smooth actions defensively and solid footwork will allow the possibility to play any of the three infield positions at the next level, making him an attractive infield prospect. A more violent lower half would allow for better power numbers and could take his game to the next level. With emphasis on the weight room, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Thomas take a jump higher into the rankings with current easy actions in all facets of the game."
PLAYER COMPARISON
*Many times coaches will ask our staff "Who does he remind you of?" Player "comps" are a popular tool in the scouting/recruiting world and we have decided to add that niche to our feature articles.
