Fall Underclass Games: 2020 Pitchers Analysis

For the fifth year, Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Fall Underclass Games in Manhattan, Kansas at Kansas State University.  Nearly 50 players from Missouri and Kansas participated in the 2021 and 2020 classes.

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the pitchers in the 2020 class from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

2020 PItchers

Blake Andersen RHP / 1B / Olathe East, KS / 2020

Andersen is a 6-foot-2 173-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas 2020 class. Andersen has a loose over the top arm action, long levers, line and accelerated down the mound, body stays under control during delivery, smooth and repeatable, fastball at 77-81 mph, occasional down hill tilt, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, late brake, 64-66 mph,  throws change up with fastball arm speed, arm side sink, 74-75 mph, has command, mixes all pitches will, strike thrower.

Alex Callia RHP / 3B / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2020

Callia is a 5-foot-8 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Callia threw strikes and attacked hitters, strong build, uses lower half well, repeats delivery, slight tuck at balance point, creates direction towards the mound, high three quarters release, fastball at 81-84 mph, works both sides of the plate, curveball has tight 12-to-6 spin, flashed sharpness, change up at 73-74 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed.

Clint Chappell SS / RHP / Mill Valley , KS / 2020

Chappell is a 6-foot-4 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Chappel has a large frame with over the top arm slot, hides ball well, long arm circle, throws with regular effort, repeats release point, throws strikes, works downhill, fastball at 76-78 mph, occasional running actin, commands to both sides of the plate, gradual 12-to-6 shape on breaking ball, 68-71 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 71-72 mph.

Jacob Dillon 3B / RHP / Olathe North, KS / 2020

Dillon is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Dillon shows signs of being a top end pitcher in his class, high three quarters release, controlled delivery, smooth tempo, arm works, slight tuck at balance point, fastball worked 82-86 mph, late two-seam action, sharp breaking ball at 11-to-5 shape, 73-74 mph, swing and miss pitch, has command of both pitches, challenges hitters, throws strikes, works quick.

Will Eddington LHP / OF / Columbus, KS / 2020

Eddington is a 5-foot-10 180-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Eddington has a simple and repeatable delivery, over the top release, hides ball well, commands fastball to both sides of the plate, fastball has cutting action, 74-76 mph, heavy, breaking ball has 1-to-7 action, shows command, throws with fastball arm speed,

Shaun Gomez Jr 3B / RHP / Shawnee Heights , KS / 2020

Gomez is a 6-foot 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Gomez has a strong frame, works down hill on the mound, will vary tempo, creates deception, hides ball until release, throws with regular effort, athletic finish, fastball at 76-81 mph, heavy, breaking ball at 64-67 mph, 12-to-6 action, sharp break, has depth.

Garrett Harmison C / RHP / Riley County, KS / 2020

Harmison is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Harmison has a lean frame, long levers, over the top release, controlled tempo, in line stride, throws with regular effort, fastball at 70-74 mph, works down in the zone, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, gradual break, has depth, throws strikes with both pitches.

Kaeden Hoefer OF / RHP / Goddard, KS / 2020

Hoefer is a 6-foot 179-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Hoefer has an athletic build, high three quarters arm slot, throws with regular effort, conventional delivery, repeats, finished in position ready to field the ball, high number of strikes with fastball and curvball, fastball at 74-76 mph, works both sides of the plate, breaking ball at 60-64-mph, down in the zone, 12-to-6 shape. 

Jace Kaminska RHP / 3B / Caney Valley, KS / 2020

Kaminska is a 6-foot-2 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Kaminska has a strong built, over the top release, controlled tempo throwing with accelerated effort down the mound, finishes in athletic position, fastball is heavy, 78-81 mph, command to both side of the plate, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, occasional depth, 63-65 mph, throws for a strike, throws with fastball arm speed, repeats mechanics.

Tyler Kotsis SS / RHP / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2020

Kotsis is a 5-foot-10 196-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Kotsis is a strike thrower and challenges hitters, mixes pitches and shows command of fastball and curveball, throws with controlled effort, over the release, in line stride down the mound, strong and durable build, fastball at 71-81 mph, works down in the zone, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, some with sharp action, will produce swing and miss, late break.

Hunter Milstead 1B / LHP / Olathe South , KS / 2020

Milstead is a 6-foot 150-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Milstead has a lean and athletic frame, over the top release, controlled delivery, in line stride, occasional downhill tilt, commands fastball to both sides of the plate, 69-71 mph, mostly to bottom of the zone, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, sharp action when he stays on top, 54-58 mph.

Jacob Misiorowski RHP / OF / Grain Valley , MO / 2020

Misirowski’s loose arm action, quick arm speed and lean frame suggest increases as he continues to develop, has an over the top arm slot, in line stride, quick and loose arm action, fastball topped at 87 mph, worked 84-85 mph, occasional slight running actin, breaking ball has sharp 11-to-5 shape, looks to be a good pitch as he continues to gain feel, has depth, late break. 

Bryce Ruiz 2B / RHP / Francis Howell North, MO / 2020

Ruiz is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Ruiz has an over the top arm slot, in line stride, controlled tempo, athletic finish, fastball at 66-68 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 63-64 mph, some with slight sink.

Clay Saporito RHP / C / Columbus, KS / 2020

Saporito is a 6-foot-2 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Saporito has an athletic build, long limbs, over the top release, throws slightly across body, fastball at 70-72 mph, works mostly arm side, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 63-64 mph, some with arm side release.

Wesley Stang 1B / RHP / Olathe South , KS / 2020

Stang is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Stang comes from a high three quarters arm slot, athletic build, occasional downhill plane, in line stride, throws with regular effort, short arm circle, fastball at 70-74 mph, high number of strikes, curveball at 58-65 mph, gradual 12-to-6 shape on breaking ball, showed feel.

Aaron Urrutia LHP / OF / Garden City, KS / 2020

Urrutia is a 5-foot-6 170-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Urrutia has a compact delivery, durable frame, repeatable release, over the top release, lands open in stride, throws with some effort, throws strikes, works both sides of plate with fastball, 71-75 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 62-63 mph, change up at 67 mph, occasional arm side release.

Teron Williams RHP / SS / Belton , MO / 2020

Williams is a 5-foot-7 110-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Williams has a slender frame, throws strikes with fastball and slider, works to contact, has command of both sides of the plate, smooth and repeatable delivery, side arm slot, repeats, fastball at 68-70 mph, slight run late, slider at 57-60 mph, 10-to-4 sweeping action, throws from slightly higher arm slot.
