5.23.14 - Currently ranked No. 34 in Illinois’ 2014 class, No. 132 overall. Bradley commit. Physically advanced 6-foot, 180 pound athlete who can play multiple positions. Caught today, showing good footwork behind the plate. Consistent pop times between 2.11-2.22 in between innings, in game threw out two runners, one at second base on a 2.05 time. Loses some quickness in transfer as he elevates elbow almost above shoulder before throwing. Throws show good carry and stay on line. 2-for-3 on the day with two hard hit line drive singles between short and third.  Looked to pull today. Showed off athleticism getting caught between second and third on a secondary lead.  Balanced upright stance, with little stride. Very little pre-pitch movement in feet or hands.  Short powerful swing. Baited catcher’s throw into centerfield, and then scored on play at the plate.  Moves extremely well on the diamond, 6.75 60 time at past events. 

6.13.13 - Physically advanced 6-foot, 180 pound multi-positional player. Posted pop times at 2.01-2.09 down to second. Arm works from an over the top slot, showed carry. Feet worked quickly, 6.82 runner in the 60. Arm plays at 78 mph from the crouch and 83 mph from the outfield. Offensively uses a no stride approach, strong hands, above average barrel awareness, 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.

5/17/13 - Athletic and physical 6-foot, 180-pound prospect. Currently ranked No. 25 in Illinois’ 2015 class; 116 overall. Possesses high-level athleticism; ran a 6.82 60 at the PBR Underclass Invitational. Played centerfield in first game against Marian Catholic; started at catcher the second game against Mount Carmel. Plays both positions solidly. Above-average arm strength (77 mph from crouch), athletic feet. Offensively, has quick, strong hands at plate. Three-hole hitter on No. 23-ranked team in state. Entered game with .521 BA with 16 doubles, 6 triples, 5 homers, 31 RBI and 32 runs. Slugging at .979 clip with 1.523 OPS. High-follow prospect.

1/20/13 - Projects to be a high-level catching prospect. Mature 6-foot, 180-pound frame with strong lower half and developed shoulders. Plus athlete for position; ran an event-best 6.82 60 at the Illinois Underclass Invitational on Jan. 20 as a sophomore. Advanced receiver. Handles velocity well; adept blocker with athletic, active feet. Registered consistent pop times ranging between 2.01-2.08 with carry and on the bag. Clocked at 77 mph from the crouch. Offensively, showed bat speed through zone, making consistent hard contact. Hits from balanced, wide setup with quiet, no stride approach. Remains balanced through contact with gap-to-gap power potential. In all, Shadid should be one of the most coveted catching prospects in Illinois’ 2015 class.
