Verbally committed to University of Arizona.
9/23/23

C Bryk Barnard (Hershey, 2024) is an uncommitted name to follow after this weekend. Currently ranked No. 102 in the class, Barnard especially impressed in his showing on Sunday, both behind the dish and at the plate. Defensively, Barnard looked very comfortable handling all of the duties of playing behind the dish and executed them at a high level. Barnard blocked up baseballs all game for his pitchers and was a clear vocal leader for the team, getting the entire defense back on track when needed. Barnard also collected two hits in the game from the left side of the dish, including a double.

3/02/23

Bryk Barnard (Hersey), Jake Parpet (Conant), Michael Roberson III (Providence Catholic) and Daniel Bastidas (Metea Valley) helped round out a strong crop of catchers on the day.

Barnard was arguably the top receiver during the bullpen setting. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitter caught each ‘pen with in-game intent, showing off flexible hips, low target and soft, quiet receiving abilities. Highly-impressive, intentful defensive look during his PBR showcase debut. He also topped at 79 mph from the crouch with accuracy and 2.01-2.04 pop times. Offensively, he stays quiet and repeatable with a simple, barrel-control swing and the ability to use the whole field.

2/25/23

Positional Profile: C
Body: 5-11, 174-pounds. Athletic, lean frame with plenty of room for continued physical development.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, quiet setup, minimal pre-pitch actions. Simple, highly-repeatable swing, stays short to the ball, loose hands, controls the barrel and whole field approach. Comfortable keeping his hands inside the baseball and manipulating the barrel.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 77.4 mph. 311’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 79 mph. Arm plays short and over-the-top. Throws were consistently around the second-base bag and play true out of the hand.
Defense: 2.01-2.04 pop times. Wide, square setup, soft hands, presents pitches in and around the zone; soft hands. Clean, easy and repeatable out of the chute. Fundamentally sound blocker.
Run: 7.63 runner in the 60.
