1B Justin Garcia-Hernandez (St. Patrick) swung one of the heaviest barrels we have seen in some time in his workout, reaching up to an eye-opening 110 mph for his max exit velocity. Standing in at 6-foot-4, 241-pounds, Garcia-Hernandez has plenty of strength throughout his frame with broad shoulders. The right-handed hitter carried his impressive power into game play, sending a ball out to right field for a home run, despite getting jammed on the pitch. His hand and bat-speed are both off the charts, averaging 26 mph for his hands and 81.4 mph with the bat.

4/20/24

Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 199 in the state. Stands in at a physical and mature 6-foot-3, 243-pounds. Batted out of the leadoff spot and played left field for the Shamrocks. Led the game off with a first-pitch single through the left side showing the barrel strength we’ve seen out of him in the past. Later in the game he sent a deep drive to left field for a long out but continued to show the ability to be on the barrel from the right side. Garcia Hernandez is a strong right-handed bat to continue to keep tabs on this spring.

2/24/24

Garcia Hernandez barreled one of the day’s hardest balls (103.3 mph) and his Blast Motion metrics were highly advanced as well - 26.6 mph average hand speed, 80.8 mph average bat speed. Additionally, the 6-foot-3, 243-pound uncommitted junior was up to 92 mph from the outfield, 87 mph across the infield, and had one of the highest right-handed grip strengths (171.2 lbs) of the day.

8/27/23

3B/OF Justin Garcia Hernandez (St. Patrick, 2025) is an incoming junior who stands at a physical 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame with strength throughout. Garcia-Hernandez displayed big bat strength throughout his round of BP resulting in one of the louder, more impressive rounds of the day. The right-handed hitter pairs a high leg kick with an aggressive approach to generate well above-average bat speed and a relatively flat path that generates leverage and back spin carry to the pull-side. Garcia Hernandez was at the top of multiple categories including peak exit velocity (103 mph) and peak distance (379 ft.). He also had the second-highest average exit velocity at 92.6 mph. In our second look at him this summer, Garcia Hernandez has shown big power in the bat that warrants a follow moving forward.
