5.16.15 - Bradley recruit, currently ranked No. 62 in Illinois’ 2016 class. Proportionally strong 5-foot-10 frame, one of the top overall athletes in 2016 class (also standout football player). Went 3-for-4 in second game, which included a two-run single; went 0-for-2 in first game. Defensively, showed reliable hands and good lateral range at shortstop.

5.23.14 - Currently ranked No. 33 in Illinois’ 2015 class, No. 137 overall. 5-foot-10, 170-pound muscular frame. Stands way off the plate, hitting from a square stance. Swing actions look stiff, but produces bat speed. Back elbow doesn’t stay in the slot, gets away from body producing level swing driven mainly by arms. Hustles everywhere on the field, grounded down the first base line for a chalk-single, ran 4.29 from right side. 6.83 60 runner at past events. Did not see any action in the field, but has shown soft hands and arm strength (80-81 across the diamond) from a fluid arm action at past events.

1.19.14 - 5-foot-10, 170-pound quick twitch, athletic infielder. Posted the second fastest 60 time at the event, running a 6.83. On the infield he works with quick feet and solid hands. Arm works long, from a ¾ slot at 75 mph. His advanced foot speed and athleticism suggest he could also be a high level centerfielder. At the plate he hits from a wide, balanced setup. Swing plane is flat with solid extension and above average bat speed. Exit velocity was 78 mph off a tee.

7/23/13 - 5-foot-9, 170-pound middle infielder, smaller frame with solid build, looks to have plenty of growth ahead. Defensively proved to be one of the better middle infielders at the event. Showed body control while moving to his left, right and coming to get the baseball. Arm works well at 80 mph across the diamond, showed a longer arm action from a high ¾ slot with accuracy and carry, has the ability to release the baseball on the move with an athletic arm action. At the plate featured an athletic setup, short stride. Lower half worked well, solid bat speed and hands. 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. Line drive type hitter showed above average hands at the plate, high rate of repeatability and contact. Shadid went 3-for-9 at the event with a double in game play.

6.12.13 - Shadid is a physically developed 5-foot-9, 170-pound infielder who looks to possess elite-level athleticism. He proved it by running an event-best 6.88 60. A quick-twitch athlete, he displayed arm strength across the infield at 79 mph with accuracy. Fields with athletic actions, soft hands, and a clean exchange.  Athletic abilities could easily transfer to multiple positions on the field. Offensively, he has an aggressive plate approach, one that he utilizes his strong lower half to create torque and bat speed.  He hits from a closed position, and despite having a tendency to close himself off, his natural hand speed allows him to consistently square up the baseball. The 2016 grad is, without question, a high-follow for years to come. His brother, Andrew, is also a ranked prospect in the 2015 class. 

9/23/19: After batting .344 with 10 home runs last spring, senior SS Luke Shadid went undrafted. On this look he impressed with plus bat speed, driving the ball up the middle and to his pull side with authority during batting practice. During the game his pull-heavy approach at the plate caused some struggles, as his bat head was in/out of the hitting zone quickly. However, his present strength, bat speed, run speed and hand/eye are all pro quality tools. He ran a 4.17 H-1B on an infield single to shortstop and showed just below average arm strength from the six-hole. He’s likely best suited to second base at the next level and is a potential Day Two bonus pool saver pick this June.
