2/2/14 - Lucas’ ascension as a national draft prospect continues to climb. His profile certainly aligns with what pro scouts seek: a left-handed hitting catcher with burgeoning power and a projectable, proportionally strong 6-foot-2, 205-pound frame with a live arm behind the plate. Offensively, Lucas is especially tantalizing, and he showed why at the Super 60. He demonstrated a balanced, level swing with easy gap-to-gap power and creates natural lift in his swing. He has strong wrists and the ball jumps off his bat with backspin carry with little effort. Similarly, when Lucas throws, the ball carries, seemingly accelerating as it nears the bag. He registered 80 mph from the crouch and pop times ranging between 1.92-2.00. Although Lucas lacks the receiving polish as some other draft prospects, the general thought is that can be taught/learned over time. His natural gifts, which seem to come easier to him than others, cannot. The Illinois State recruit also ran a 7.28 60.
10/21/12 - Lucas is an athletically built catcher with wide shoulders standing 6-foot-1, 190-pounds. Defensively, Lucas showed solid hands behind the plate, his arm action is short and over the top putting throws on the bag at 78 mph recording pop times of 2.00-2.10. His footwork is quick out of the crouch and his exchange is efficient. Offensively, Lucas hits from a balanced stance using a short stride. Lucas showed a pull side approach hitting from the left side. His bat path is short and had a solid presence in the box. Lucas is a top level left handed hitting catcher.
1/22/12 Lucas is an athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound multi-positional talent who impressed with his easy left-handed swing.  He has an open setup and excellent balance and fluidity throughout his swing.  He has a line drive swing and generated some bat speed through the zone, which enabled him to barrel up balls to all fields.  Defensively, Lucas solid footwork at both positions.  He had a best pop time of 2.00 and was clocked at 72 mph from the crouch.
