3rd Team All State: Halas has been a mainstay in the middle of the order for the Mustangs the last three seasons, while also putting up solid numbers in the rotation. In 2015 the offensive second baseman hit .396 with 22 extra base hits: 14 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 36 RBI, 36 runs. He posted a .726 slugging percentage, 1.219 OPS, .492 on base percentage (18 walks), and also stole 12 bases.

5/22/15  6-foot, 190-pound RHP/2B, impressed on the mound in 5.1 innings of work, allowing three runs on three hits. Works from first based side of the rubber, loose, high ¾ arm slot, high front side, good downhill angle on fastball, works from 82-85 mph sinks fastball to arm side. Changeup thrown aggressively, 79-80 mph, late sinking action. Good feel for 69-70 mph curveball, 11/5 shape, big breaker, lands for strikes early in the count. Committed to Tennessee as a middle infielder, middle of the order bat for the Mustangs.

5/3/14 Tennesee commit. Ranked No. 11 in the state, No. 46 overall. High level bat, hits from the right side, loose relaxed setup, slightly open stance, tall setup. Well above average bat speed, loose hands, creates whip, aggressive hitter. Showed excellent barrel awareness, pull side approach with power. Hit a no doubter home run to left center. On the mound Halas showed his competitiveness, pounded the zone with multiple pitches letting his defense work. High ¾ arm slot, loose arm, athletic delivery. Fastball sits 82-84 mph, touching 85 mph, showed control of the zone. Changeup has excellent action, power change, 79-81 mph, swing and miss pitch. Halas, more noted for his offensive presence showed well on the mound working four innings of one run baseball striking out four.

4/28/14 Currently ranked No. 11 in Illinois’ 2015 class; No. 46 overall. Verbally committed to Tennessee. 6-foot, 180-pound two-way player. High-level offensive right-hander hitter; relaxed plate approach, tall, open setup, excellent bat speed and barrel whip through the zone. Does not get cheated in the box. Four-hole hitter for top-ranked St. Rita; has eight doubles, two triples and 22 RBI through 23 games. Improved to 5-0 on mound. Fastball sat in 84-85 range, touching 86 on occasion in early innings. Minimal effort, easy arm action, high-3/4 slot; fastball showed occasional cut. Also throws a 67-69 mph curveball for strikes and a firm straight change at 80 mph. In five innings, Halas yielded four hits, three runs, two earned, struck out one and walked two.

2/16/14 Tennessee commit. Athletic build, 6-foot, 180-pound shortstop. One of the top defenders in the class, hands are quick and soft, advanced actions, plays through the baseball well, plays with little effort. Arm action is short and loose, 83 mph across the diamond, high ¾ slot, athletic arm action, gets carry and can release on the move. Offensively hits from a tall setup, open stance, loose easy setup. Creates whip through the zone, generates bat speed with upper half, path is short to the ball. Aggressive swinger, hits with conviction, 93 mph exit velocity from the tee. High level, hard contact, finds the barrel regularly. Also ran a 7.09 in the 60.

Halas continued to show why he is one of the top Class of 2015 players in the Midwest. Halas is a polished two-way prospect who showed extremely well in all facets of the game. At the plate, the 5-foot-10, 140-pound athlete showed a quick, level swing which produced consistent line drives. In the field, he continued to impress, showcasing great hands and a strong, accurate arm across the diamond. The two-way talent additionally performed well on the mound. Halas came from a 3/4 arm slot with a fastball that topped at an event-best 80 mph and sat at 78 mph. He also flashed a tight curveball with sharp break and change with downward movement.
The way the 5-foot-10, 140-pound Halas performed, it was hard to believe the two-way prospect is only in eighth-grade. Certainly he has to be one of the best 2015 prospects in the state. At shortstop, Halas showcased advanced defensive actions. He showed range and foot speed to go along with a solid, accurate arm across the infield. Halas also displayed soft hands and played out front through the ball, always fielding the ball with rhythm and fluidity. At the plate, Halas continued to impress with a short, balanced, smooth swing which produced line drives to all fields. Halas has extremely quick hands and impressive barrel whip through the zone, and gets excellent extension through contact. On the mound, Halas came from a 3/4 arm slot and topped at 78 with his fastball, which was consistently thrown for quality strikes with arm side run. Halas also displayed a changeup with sink and curveball that showed some depth. Halas will attend St. Rita HS next year. The 5-foot-10 athletic infielder showcased as one of the top eighth-graders in the state.
Halas was one of the better Class of 2015 prospects in the state. Offensively, Halas demonstrated a good presence at the plate with an athletic set up and good approach to his round. Halas has an advanced plate approach, as he is quiet and quick to the ball, while maintaining excellent balance and rhythm. Halas has an economical approach to the ball as he sprayed line drives to all fields. Defensively, Halas displayed soft hands at the shortstop position with fluid footwork that allowed him to move well laterally and show some range at the position.
