Positional Profile: SS/2B Follow in the KS 2026 class.
Body: 6-2, 172-pounds. Lean, high-waisted frame with present athleticism and projectability.
Hit: LHH. Wide, balanced setup. Small leg kick load and short stride. Level swing plane. Generates loft with raw pull-side power using his lower half and long levers. Stays through the zone with extension at contact and feel for the barrel. 71 mph bat speed with 17 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 84.3 mph. 343' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-87 mph. Short 3/4 arm action with above-average carry.
Defense: Fluid defender with natural actions and quick footwork. Soft hands out front funnel into his body with lateral range and quick exchanges.
ATH: 6.81 runner in the 60. 28.30 max vertical.

At 6-foot-2, 171-pounds, INF Sawyer Newton (Manhattan, 2026) is an upside athlete to know from this event. A top-20 player in the states’ 2026 class, the junior saw considerable jumps in almost all of his metrics since our last look this past winter. Using his long-levers at the plate, the lefty reached exit velocities upwards of 93.3 mph, consistently finding the barrel to the pull side. Newton also showed polish on the infield with a 87 mph bullet across the diamond to pair with a 6.81 60 time.

INF Sawyer Newton (Manhattan, 2026) emerged as a name to know sophomore from Sunday’s event. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound lefty put together a loud round of BP, consistently finding the barrel, spraying line drives from gap-to-gap. Still developing power, which should come as he adds strength and mass to his frame, Newton produced a peak exit velocity of 87.8 mph. Defensively, his arm played true across the diamond with above-average strength for his age, peaking at 87 mph on his loudest throw - tops at the event. Additionally, Newton ran a 6.84 60 to lead the event as well.
