Offensive traits that college coaches will drool over. 6-foot-5, with smooth patterns an advanced burst through the zone. Ball flies off the barrel with consistent mid 90s jump and a peak EV of 98mph. Arguably the top BP we saw from Team Ohio. Defensively he has a corner profile that can play in right or 1B. Good athlete at either spot. One of the top recruited '24s in the Midwest.

Jake Hanley: OF/RHP, (2024) Mason, OH. 6-foot-4, 205-pound projectable frame. Advanced at the plate, the left-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 95 mph. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride. Has explosive bat speed, short swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with tons of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Athletic showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 85 mph; has athletic feet, and soft sure hands. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.17. Athletic on the mound, showed good arm speed with a compact arm action. Slow-tempo type pitcher and uses easy effort. Tall balance point with in line shoulders. Lands hard with a clean finish. Curveball (74-76 mph). Threw his fastball 85-87 mph.

Scout Evaluation

Hit: Smooth, easy stroke with some of the more raw power you'll find in the 2024 class. Looks different coming off his bat. Prototype run producer mold that will be one of the more highly recruited bats in the state.
Power:Legit power potential.
Offensive Projection: Run producer.
Max BP Exit Velocity: 95mph.
Max BP Distance: 355ft.
Field: Smooth actions in the outfield. Looks the part out there. Very solid defender.
Throw: Above average strength.
Defensive Projection: Multiple spots.

Scouting Notes: The 6-foot-4 two-way prospect is a well known name for college coaches already who once again looked the part on the mound. Arm is on time and delivery is smooth. Much like his profile at the plate the potential for power is real.
Fastball: 80-83mph.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1850-2100.
Curveball: 1850-2101.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1900-2150.
Changeup: 73-74mph.
Changeup Spin Rate: 1869-2416.

Scouting Notes: Just like at the plate there's obvious projectability here. Arm works well and he has a high velocity ceiling. Expect him to continue to climb with maturity. Up to 82 mph today.
Fastball: 79-82mph.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1879-2089
Breaking Ball: 65-66mph.
Breaking Ball Spin Rate: 1844-2006
Changeup: 70-72mph.

Hit: Ton of upside here. Hard to believe you're watching a 2024. 6-foot-4 lefty bat with big time juice. His simple load allows for repeatability to stroke/finding the barrel often. Very solid round for class.
Power: Huge potential for raw power.
Offensive Projection: Run producer written all over him.
Max BP Exit Velocity: 96 mph
Max BP Distance: 324 ft
Field: Solid skill set in the outfield for class. Athletic mover with cleaner actions. Corner type skill set.
Throw: Above average strength for class.
Defensive Projection: Corner outfield.

Swing Mechanics: Left-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Uses a simple, efficient load that leads to a balanced launch.
Hit: Swing plays. Path creates a large margin for error and he has the ability to damage when he connects. Strength and bat speed are both well above average for class and his natural loft creates easy backspin. Impressive hit tool.
Power: Well above average for class.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer.
Field: In the outfield he plays quickly too and through. One-handed play through with above average ball skills. Very solid defender out there with a corner look to him but with added athleticism.
Throw: Clean arm with above average strength and present touch.

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Sets up with all of weight in back leg. Lower leg kick with a dynamic lower half. Quick arm action with a release point out to the side.

Fastball: 75-79mph. Live pitch with arm side movement. Hard to barrel up in the zone but needs to be more consistent.

Curveball: 65-67mph. 11/5 movement with more depth than action. Needs to be thrown in the zone more consistently.

Pitchability: Needs to be more consistent in the zone.

A left-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Very impressive BP. Hanley has obvious twitch to hands, natural loft to path, generating loud pop/especially to pull side. Going to be a good one and should see even more pop down the road as he learns to more efficiently utilize lower half. Looks the part in the outfield as well. + frame with athletic actions. Makes it look easy. Projects as an above average defender.
