Nolan Hoover: RHP/SS, (2025) Gibsonburg, OH. 5-foot-9, 145-pound. Athletic during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 86 mph. (62.87 mph bat speed average). (17.62 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a toe tap stride. Bat speed is efficient, displays a level swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls during the round. Line drive approach. Athletic while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 79 mph; shows athletic feet, soft hands, and a fluid clean exchange. Athletic his best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 82 mph; showed a natural clean exchange, soft hands, and athletic feet. Fields the ball out front. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag and a consistent arm action. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.98. Athletic on the mound, had a long arm action and a ¾ arm angle with good arm speed. Slow-tempo type pitcher who uses easy effort. Tall balance point with in line shoulders. Lands square with a clean finish. Changeup (71-72 mph). Produced a fastball that came in at 76-80 mph; has slight action with straight movement. (Max spin 2224; Avg 2069). Had control low in the zone on his 11/5 sharp curveball (65-69). (Max spin 2512; Avg 2300).

Nolan Hoover: RHP/SS, (2025) Gibsonburg, OH. 5-foot-9, 145-pound athletic projectable build. In the box, Hoover had a max exit velocity of 86 mph. Started in an athletic stance with a smooth quick load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed is average and exhibits a level rotational swing plane. Above average in the infield, displayed a velocity of 80 mph; has smooth consistent feet, soft hands, and a clean lengthy exchange. Athletic in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 83 mph; had sure hands, smooth athletic footwork, and a clean exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.17. Above average on the mound, showed quick arm speed, he had a quick arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher and shows some effort. Athletic balance point. Sat with his fastball at 77-80 mph. Has running action. (Max spin 2084; Avg 1960). Throws a 11/5 curveball (66-67) that has plus action. (Max spin 2339; Avg 1790). His changeup (68-69) showed sinking action.

2/17/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Athletic fluid delivery with plus mechanics. Able to hop right off the mound. Fastball: Two-seam action at 75mph. Consistent with accuracy. Curveball: 11/5 break with above average break at 64 mph. Changeup: Presents some arm side run/sink action at 64mph. 2/17/20 Position Player Hit: Athletic setup at the dish. Movements are fluid and quick. Incorporates a leg tap loading sequence to stay on time. Hands move quickly through the zone. Maintains a level bat path creating some natural loft. Power: Line drive pop. Flashes of pull side power should increase as he continues to grow. Offensive Projection: TBD. Field: Fluid movements defensively. Solid footwork and above average glove skills. Throw: Throws from a clean ¾ arm slot registering 68 mph arm strength. Defensive Projection: MIF.

Swing Mechanics: Right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic stance. Uses a simple loading sequence that leads to a balanced launch.
Hit: Level to slightly downhill path with balanced natural tools through the zone. Showed a bit of a pull side approach in BP. Rotational swing sequence.
Power: Line drive pop.
Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles.
Field: In the outfield he plays with short, quick footwork in his approach. Slows tempo a bit at fielding before picking it back up during gather. Two-handed play through with solid ball skills. Also worked out in the infield. Attacks the ball with direct footwork off the bat, cutting down distance prior to fielding. Ball skills are on par for class.
Throw: Accurate arm with developing strength.

 

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from the first base side of the rubber. High leg kick slightly wrapping lead foot around back thigh and landing slightly closed off. Smooth but longer high 3/4 arm action that is slightly late getting up.

Fastball: 71-73mph. Slight arm side movement with life to it. Comfortable with the offering but tended to miss up in the zone.

Curveball: 56-60mph. Sharp movement on a 12/6 plane showing confidence with the offering. Ability to throw in the zone consistently.

Changeup:

Pitchability: Locates in the zone consistently but tends to miss over the middle of the plate.

Body Type: 5-foot-6, 125-pounds with average athletic frame with room to fill

Hit: The RHH has good weight transfers from his load to his contact point. Has a quiet body as he loads into his swing. Hands stay strong as he finishes his swing.

Power: Consistent line drive abilities with some pop

Offensive Projections: Line drive production, middle of order (73 exit velocity)

Run: 8.11 (60-yard dash)

Field: From SS, he has average arm strength from across the diamond (clean arm with some carry). Has god weight transitions as he follows his throws. Has average footwork, plays low and through the baseball

Power: 71 mph exit velocity exhibiting strength in the athlete’s swing.

Offensive Projection: TBD as he plays through high school.

Run: 8.4 seconds 60-yard.
Field: Hands showed well with the glove as he fielded it. Footwork is developing angles as he gets around the ball. Efficiency to come as he gets more reps.
Defensive Projection: Short stop.

Swing Mechanics: Upright stance with a simple loading sequence.
Hit: Compact, slightly downhill swing that offers a bit more speed than strength. Both tools still developing. More of a feel hitter than a do damage guy. Stays inside the baseball well, working up the middle to opposite field.
Power: Contact guy with much more to come. Young hitter. 68 mph exit velocity.
Offensive Projection: TBD.
Run: 8.44 60-yard dash.
Field: In the infield he moves light on his feet with fluid actions. Soft hands with above average ball skills for class. Sure-handed. Showed above average lateral mobility and the ability to make plays on the move.
Throw: Clean arm that projects for more strength as he matures. 67 mph across the infield.
Defensive Projection: 2B.


2/9/19 Pitching
Body Type: 5-foot-5, 120-pound prospect.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Uptempo, easy delivery with long loose arm action. Near ¾ right-hander that will see easy velo gains as he matures. Delivery works well.
Fastball: 63-69 mph. Mostly true with slight arm side action.
Curveball: 53-56 mph. 11/5 gradual action.
Pitchability: Both offerings were in the zone for the most part.



2/3/19 Position

Body Type: 5-foot-5, 120 pounds young prospect with room to grow.  

Swing Mechanics: Starts in a balanced setup. Uses a front hip hinge load and has a slight armbar which leads to him casting his barrel around the zone. Shows a flat bat path with strong hands and wrists.

Hit: Strong hands and wrists and good barrel control.

Power: 66 mph exit velocity.

Offensive Projection: Shows some good natural attributes in his swing for a young prospect. Should improve as he develops more physically.

Field: In the infield he showed solid footwork with below average angles through the ball and a slower than desired release.

Run: 8.29 60 yard dash.

Throw: 68 mph across the diamond.
Defensive Projection:
Presently would profile as 2B only type guy at the next level if he were to stay in the infield.

 

2/3/19 Pitching

Body Type: 5-foot-5, 120 pounds young prospect with room to grow.

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Stretch-only type pitcher that allows him to repeat his motion. Throws through a 3/4 slot with long arm action. Drop and drive type delivery.

Fastball: Fastball stays true at 67-70 mph. Consistently commands this pitch.

Curveball: Breaking ball displays some depth on an 11/5 plane. Sits between 55-57 mph.

Changeup: 63-64 mph keeps arm speed up with his changeup.

1/12/19 Pitching
Mechanical/Delivery Notes:
Works exclusively from the stretch allowing him to repeat delivery often. Uses a chest high leg lift before getting into drop and drive load. Arm works through a high-¾ slot and ball comes out well. More polished than typical prospect his age.
Fastball: 68-70 mph. Arm works well and fastball comes out smoothly. Pitch is mostly true through the zone. Should see much more velocity down the road.
Curveball: 54-57 mph. 11/5, big bender that has gradual action. Will develop more sharpness as velo increases. Tossed the offering in the zone consistently.
Changeup: 62-64 mph.  Impress pitch for class. Maintains armspeed on offering that has nice fading action to it.
Pitchability: Well above average for class. Rare to see a prospect his age that can repeat delivery and command three offerings.
Future Role: It’s early but with his ability to command three offerings and lower effort delivery he has a starter look.  

 

1/12/19
Body Type: 5-foot-5, 120-pound with a ton more physical maturing left.

Hit: Right-handed hitter with a simple approach at the plate. Swing is slightly downhill with balanced strength and speed to it. All fields guy with natural lift to the middle. Can get around ball to pull side.

Power: 69 mph exit velocity. Contact type guy.

Offensive Projection: Table setter type bat presently but still has a ton of physical maturation to go.

Run: 8.05 60-yard dash.

Field: Attacks the ball linearly off the bat, taking direct routes to the baseball. Tends to field from heels. Showed above average ball skills for class.

Throw: 65 mph across the diamond. Accurate arm with the ability to use multiple arm angles.

Defensive Projection: TBD
