5/11/15 Dum sat 88-90 touching 92 up a tick from when we saw him just four days ago. Working on three days rest, Dum touched 90 frequently throughout the game while mixing his slider at 71-72 and changeup at 75-76.
4/21/15 Dum sat 88-90 with good 2-seam run and sink on the FB. FB also had significant life on it and seemed to jump out of his hand. SL was 69-72 got sharper as the game went on. Early on seemed to roll out of his hand and was a little loopy. Showed a good change when he threw it but only threw it a handful of times. Was 75-77 with good downward action. Pounded the zone all day, didn't walk a batter and threw to both sides of the plate with ease.
7/1/14 Dum pounded the bottom of the zone with a sinking FB at 86-88 (mostly 88) for three innings. He also featured two solid secondary offerings in a 71-73 CB and 77-78 CH.
8/3/13 Dum showcased his talents as a potential two-way player at the next level, making difficult plays at the hot corner look routine. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect displayed soft hands and an 82 mph arm across the diamond. The left-handed hitter registered the first hit of the 2013 Midwest Future Games finishing Game One 1-for-2 with an RBI. Dum was one of the more interesting right-handed pitchers at the event. He sat 83-85, touching 86 mph from a 3/4 arm slot. Dum effectively commanded his 70 mph curveball, 73 mph slider and his 69 mph changeup to keep hitters guessing. He creates interesting angles to the plate with his arm slot and commands the zone effectively. Dum allowed just two balls to leave the infield in his three innings of work striking out three.
2/23/13 Dum is a 6-foot, 175-pound prospect with an athletic build and a lot of potential. The sophomore two-way player showed smooth actions in the infield with soft hands and a quick release. Dum showcased good carry on throws of 78 mph across the diamond with much more arm strength to spare. He displayed good feet as evidenced by his 4.20 home-to-first time. The left-handed hitter hits out of a square stance with a very short stride. He barreled the baseball consistently with an 82 mph bat exit velocity. Dum throws from a low 3/4 arm slot creating interesting angles with significant movement to everything he throws. He showcased a fastball that had significant arm side run sitting 82-84. His 68 mph curveball has slider action to it and his 69 mph circle change showed big arm side run. Dum has a feel for all three pitches and an athletic frame that projects for spikes in velocity in the future. His bullpen session, combined with his work at 3B make him a player to watch in this class.
